Breitbart.com : Teen piracy suspect raises legal, moral issues

There is probably no valid means of verifying these men's ages. Already statist pundits are playing the violin. These pirates keep food aid from people who are starving, receive ransoms so the food aid can then be delivered and have disrupted global trade for years. And you're right, if this had happened under a previous administration, the International Red Cross human rightsers and others would be wailing about it. best, kay

Breitbart.com : Obama\'s top economic adviser: \'free-fall\' ending

If conservatives had a real backbone, we'd all file for an extension in unison. I'm betting we comprise a big chunck of those taxpayers as opposed to tax recipients. Statists are praising Obama for correcting an economy he helped tank. During the elections he did the same thing Clinton did--he wailed about the economy and investors and anyone with bucks (as soon as you hear the words 'spread the wealth') took measures to protect what we have earned the hard way. It's amusing to see statists say conservatives are whining. Conservatives don't whine. We shout and there's a lot of that going on right now, in keeping with tea parties across the nation and more than 30 states issuing resolutions declaring state sovreignty. We might be down temporarily, but we will not give up the battle to save our country by peaceful, constitutional means. It might be a good idea for Congress to read the Constitution. best, kay

Breitbart.com : NY atty gen says 73 AIG execs got $1M bonuses

Reminds me of what Reagan said (paraphrasing)--scariest words are 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.' Talk about a fiasco. The problem is Dodd. He's the guy who wrote the enabling rule for these bonuses, and he's the guy who got the most campaign donations from AIG (check Open Secrets). And if you go by the law, which most don't do these days, those contracts are more than likely valid. But I'd say Dodd's the dude who did the deed here. best, Kay Day/The US Report

Big Hollywood : Paglia & Co. Blame Everyone-Anyone But Man In Charge

I read the article; it was fvery well-balanced. And like you, I was amazed at the level of mean-spiritedness. Wait'll they see what Obama and his Congressional cronies slipped in the Omnibus bill--now the United Nations can levy a tax on American taxpayers. And I confirmed that before I wrote about it. I think every US citizen should mail the administration a copy of the US constitution. I will go to jail before I give the UN another dime. And Ban ki-Moon called us "deadbeats" today. best, Kay Day

Red County : Rep. John Campbell: The Case Against Earmarks - OC BLOG (CA), Part of the Red County Network

Teresa, I agree. I've written about this--there is excellent information at groups like Citizens Against Government Waste on the history of earmarks--they began to increase during the 1980s under a Dem Congress and simply exploded from that point on. There is also flagrant hypocrisy in our president's statements. He managed to insert a record number of earmarks during his short spell in the Senate. And most of his are questionable--a perpetual $1,000,000 earmark for the Paul Simon institute? It's no coincidence the senator was a mentor to Axelrod and Obama. As all Americans tighten their own budgets, the U.S. government has no right to expand spending. There should be legislation requiring that if you designate an earmark, you delete funding in that amount from another item. That would I believe solve the problem. Our current Congress and new administration are spending the country into bankruptcy. The Dems used the economic problem to push through questionable spending. That is an affront, in my opinion. If you'd like to see the column I wrote, just let me know. Establishment media did not do their research on this matter. best, Kay

Red County : Richard Viguerie Tells Red County "Third Force" Needed - WILLIAMSON COUNTY (TN), Part of the Red Cou

I think Viguerie got it exactly right. If we continue on course, elections will be nothing more than a beauty contest. If what is happening with our government--what has been happening even before the last election--doesn't disturb you, then freedom is not an issue for you. The federal government was not established to dominate in the sovreign manner it has adopted. Right now if you had to compare parties, what would you cite as real differences between the GOP and the Dems politically? Probably the divisiveness on social issues. I've always seen the GOP as the party of fiscal conservatism. That simply is not true at present and most of us would probably agree on that. Congress and the executive branch have made a mockery of the constitution. That is, for me, the most troubling development of all. best, Kay

Red County :

Couple things on your excellent post. Obama is a complete hypocrite when it comes to earmarks. His own earmarks during his brief U.S. Senate tenure total more than $700,000. Last time I looked they're still there. One earmark he co-sponsored shuttles $30 MILLION to the National Writing Program, a feel-good endeavor for those who want to teach children to write better. Apparently this implies no faith in teachers when it comes to writing. Here's a link to Obama's earmarks: http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/bet... Democrats and Republicans have earmarks in the omnibus, with Dems outpacing Republicans. Earmarks gained ground during the 1980s when Dems controlled Congress. If you want to take a cosmic look at Congress, consider this: 1954-1994: Democrats control 1994-2006: Republicans control 2006 to our blighted present: Dems back in charge So if you want to draw a conclusion about which party had the broader impact, Dems hit a home run. best, Kay B.
Big Hollywood : Review: 'The Echelon Conspiracy' Is Shameful

What's ironic, to me, is the potential for a vast left-wing conspiracy movie. After all, liberals invented conspiracies and myth. Conservatives always get caught. Case in point: JFK. He bugged the whole White House and somehow, lotsa tapes went missing. What's even more ironic is that tinselati (I know I made it up; but the word works) probably have cushier lifestyles than 99 percent of the American public. Most of the A-listers fall into income brackets that pay less taxes than those in the $100,000-500,000 range. So for the life of me I can't understand why they continually shoot at windmills in government that has treated them well for the most part. Glad I read your review though. I won't waste my $1 on the Red Box for this one. best, KBD
