WOODTV.com : MI bank 1 of 8 shut down across U.S. | WOOD TV8

Many of the homes in the city are in foreclosure because the landlords or real estate flippers could no longer fund the payments. The Grand Rapids Legal news lists foreclosures. Frequently there is one person or one business with several properties in foreclosure. The flippers bought homes, fixed them up and the market crashed. Then they are left with an over priced house for the market. If they sold it, they would have to bring money to the closing to pay off their loans instead of taking home a check. Instead, they stop making payments. There is a lot more going on in the market than just people who have lost jobs losing their house.

It seems to me that you are rightfully being rewarded for good stewardship of your money. Don't feel guilty for continuing to do so as you make use of what has been made available to you. I don't feel guilty for itemizing my deductions on my tax return. It's the same principle as taking the home buyer's credit. You save your money and waited to buy a house and now houses are 'on sale'. There is no reason for you to feel guilty for waiting to buy something until you had the money to buy it.

WOODTV.com : Malmberg Im not a monster | WOOD TV8

The comment "I am not a monster." is indicative of his inability to discern what is right and what is wrong. It makes me curious to know; what is his definition of a monster? This world is full of sick and crazy people. It appears he is one of them. If one truly loves someone, any kind of physical punishment is difficult and murder is certainly out of the question. It is unlikely this was a result of a temporary outburst of anger on his part. As parents we are responsible to step back and take a moment if a child is frustrating or irritating. He was not responsible. He was a monster. For all of us who are angered, sickened and who mourn for Jozlynn, know that justice WILL be served, in this life or the next.

WOODTV.com : Woods merch slumps amid controversy | WOOD TV8

It's this attitude of 'who cares' that explains the 50% divorce rate. Men who are in a good, monogamous marriage are much happier than those who 'spread their seed'. Love is a choice. Respect is too. It's also in our nature to lie and steal but we make a choice not to do those things because they are wrong. We are where we are in life because of the choices we make. Be responsible, make good choices. Cheating on a spouse is not a good choice which is proven by the negative repercussions one has to face.

I used to think that all of SE GR was high crime or a 'bad' area to live. Until I moved here and walked around. That's right, walked. If you don't know what you are talking about, you shouldn't talk. Better to keep your mouth closed and look like a fool, than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

WOODTV.com : Battery plant may be built by LG Chem | WOOD TV8

Last I knew, there was an over abundance of vacant industrial buildings in Holland. I find it hard to believe none of the buildings would be suitable for a battery factory. Why can't we work together to use one of the vacant buildings instead of constructing a new one? (That question is rhetorical. Tax incentives and the condition of currently available buildings probably bring the monetary cost of a new structure down low enough to justify (to the owner) a new one.

WOODTV.com : 2 teens arrested after homeowner tip | WOOD TV8

Life is different now. Used to be people talked to each other. You knew all your neighbors, waved to them when you saw them, sent over Christmas goodies... being 'neighborly' was just what you did. Nowadays, people lock themselves in their houses and call the city on their neighbors if the car is in the same place in the street for two days when the car owner has H1N1. This is certainly a lesson in being neighborly. If more people had been on the lookout for their neighbors, it would have been stopped before they themselves were victims.

WOODTV.com : Health jobs fill half of mfg job loss | WOOD TV8

How many of you purchased clothing or electronics made outside of the US? Why do you do that? Because it costs less. It costs the consumer less to purchase it because it costs less to make, and ship, to the US than it costs to make it here. If people don't pay the higher price of goods manufactured in the US, sales decrease, profits go down. Stockholders scream and people are laid off. The jobs disappear because there is no one purchasing the more expensive products! The next time you are shopping for durable goods, think about that. Then if you buy an imported product, do not complain about job losses. You are part of the problem. All that being said, I am just as sad to see the job loss and unemployment increases. It's just a much bigger picture than so many people think.

When my mom was in the hospital, it was very clear which nurses were there for the money (RN does pay pretty well) and those who were there because they cared about people. The very best advice I ever received was do what you love, what you are passionate about and you will succeed. You will be happy with your work, it will be meaningful and because you are happy, the money won't be so important to you. You will do what you can to keep your job because you LOVE it. It is not easy to do with this job market. However, if you don't know what that is, then now is certainly the time to figure it out. Life is NOT about how much stuff you have and where you vacation. If that is what you think, your priorities are out of whack.

WOODTV.com : U.S. Rep. Hoekstra: America is a target

After reading the article referenced by lonewatchman, I wonder if perhaps the bombing Detroit was not the point of this mission. Perhaps it was testing the ability to pass through security or maybe he was not acting alone and someone who was supposed to be flying with him, did not. He changed his ticket at the last minute. It would also explain the apparent lack of training of the bomber. There seem to be some dots not connecting on this operation. As for people and media from other countries and what they think of our President, why should they be any different than our media or citizens? SNL and all of the night talk show hosts make fun of whomever is in office. The opposing party pulls out all the stops to find the faults of the Presidential candidate in an effort to make them look inadequate. If the people whom the President is supposed to be leading are disrespectful, why should anyone from another country respect the President? There very well may be people in Washington who believe the President is naive, but the ones who are respectful do not spout off about it. They realize that he is the President for the time being and in order to get the best out of him and the time he is in office they need to step up to the plate and be his experience. It is not just the President who is running this country, it is the people with whom he surrounds himself.

Stick around a while and you will see that almost every news story will have a post from someone (or two or three) who wants blood, revenge, justice etc. Others just like to call people names. Many just come here to vent no matter if the story is true or not, then blame it on the 'liberals' or 'right wing'.
