I'm not sure of your point. Mine is that all of the people living in this particular area have been though a lot. Many have lost their homes, vehicles, and possessions. Many are still displaced from their homes. For the residents to hear of possible violent sexual assaults and transients in the neighborhood, while they are trying to restore their lives only adds to their challenges and is very unfortunate.

Why insist on keeping this list secret? Yes, there might be some hypothetical concerns, but given the context, wouldn't it be better to harness the power of the internet & social media by making this list public? The insistence on controlling this info results in names being on the list that could quickly be eliminated if the public could provide input. In turn, the search could then focus on locating those that are truly missing.

So in other words, unless someone is an elite 'real' triathlete - even if they are doing triathlons because they enjoy the challenge & adventure, the health and stress relief benefits, the sense of focus and direction they notice while training, don't have time to train because of family and career commitments, or perhaps they are older, recovering from illness, or just getting started, OR just doing it for flippin' fun - it 'just doesn't cut it'? 'Right'....though only in the extreme off balance sense of the word...like Third Reich of Sports.

That is a lot for a race, though given the length and different components of the race that necessitate a lot of support, there are a lot of costs that don't make it comparable to a 10k.

Aren't these rules just dancing around the fact that helmet innovation hasn't kept up with the times? In the late 1930's there was a transition from leather > hard shell helmets; and in the 1950's face masks were added. Yes, there have been some changes in design, but in the last 50 years helmets have changed remarkably little relative to the changes in force generated by much stronger & faster players. We can keep tinkering with these rules, but my sense is that the standard helmet design is due for an upgrade.
