I thought the Grandmother was quoted as saying "these weren't gangbangers." I would have never guessed after reading the story the first time and reading what the grandmother's comments were.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Consultant: Tunnel tolls will clog Seattle streets | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News |

When the "Big Quake" hits do you want to be in a tunnel? Downtown is fill dirt anyway and now we are going to stick a tunnel down there. Besides this article isn't about you being proven correct. It is about the fact that nobody has the common sense to realize when you charge $4.00 for a toll people are going to avoid it. They say $4.00 in 2015 money, the fact is with the way the economy is going many people may not have $4.00 to spend in 2015. I bet it will be $4.00 each way not round trip. The tunnel will be for the rich and the common people who paid for it will be forced to surface streets. My prediction is that this tunnel comes in $1.5 billion over budget and 6 months - 1 year behind.

And the Democratic administration is doing a good job of keeping it screwed up. CBS news reported in October than by Obama's fourth year in office we could expect this administration to add 5.9 trillion dollars to the national debt. 5.9 trillion is 1 trillion more than Bush added in two terms.

Actually artman if I remember correctly the democrats had a chance to pass a budget since they controlled both the legislative and executive branch when the 2011 budget should have be taken up and passed back last summer. The government's fiscal year runs October to September. So who's to blame? The ones you claim screw things up? Or the ones who had a chance to pass a budget but didn't because they didn't want to take the heat for it come election time.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : UN approves no-fly zone over Libya | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News | KOMO News | Nati

Hey I agree I say lets see what we paid for also. Most of those bases in the region have F-16s though. Like I said earlier the government may have thought ahead and forward deployed F-22s. I remember reading recently that only a carrier group was in the Mediterranean for setting up a No Fly zone if the U.S was going to. I sounds more like the French are going to see what their Dassault Rafales can do.

Last I heard there were only aircraft carriers in the Mediterranean so, if the US does help it will only likely come in the form of F/A -18s. F-22s don't take off from carriers. I guess if the Air Force pre-positioned F-22s near Libya it would be possible for them to be there but, the US doesn't seem to interested in helping and an F-22 going up against the Libyan Air Force wouldn't be a dog fight it would be a slaughter. Even with F/A-18s anything that the Libyan Air Force sends up will quickly come down.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : U.S. officials say situation at nuke plant deteriorating | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking N

Are you some sort of Journalist / Nuclear physician / Nuclear Engineer? You aren't a historian I can tell you that. Military personnel have been stationed on mainland Japan since 1945 not 1944. From what I read chartered flights by the US government were going to Taipei not South Korea. And you seem to be attempting to spew fear as quick as the media. Radiation can be detected nearly everywhere in living animals and rocks so calm down. Your cell phone, computer, t.v., wireless router all put out some radiation. Satellites sending down t.v. signals, radio signals, military satellites all spew some form of radiation. Take a deep breath and calm yourself. Were not all going to suddenly get cancer and die.

There are more informed and intelligent people working on this than many of the people commenting on this board. The past few days everyone has been playing Nuclear Engineer at their keyboards, researching sites like wikipedia where anyone can put anything they want truth or not. I say lets leave the exposure level concerns and repairs of the plant to those who know what they are doing. Also, is Obama done picking his NCAA bracket yet so he can focus on what is going on in the world?

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Health officials: No need to take iodine here | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News | KOMO

considering Morton Salt has only 40 milligrams of potassium iodide per 100 grams you would need to eat alot of salt to be safe. 100 grams is just under half a cup, so you would need to eat somewhere near 1 1/2 cups of salt to be safe A DAY. Keep the water handy because you might get thirsty. Also keep the phone close because that much salt would kill you. I really can't believe that people are so freightened to this extent.

I don't think that they said hey "don't worry about radiation" and then did a 360. I am no expert on Nuclear facilities but, I am going to bet that in most countries some kind of sensor or testing equipment is standard in and around Nuclear facilities. So I don't think they said um maybe we need to start testing now, they were most likely testing all along even before the quake.

I am literally laughing on the floor. Here's the part I liked most "I ran the numbers on lethal dosage of salt and you'd be putting your life at risk taking enough salt." I also found the seaweed comment funny. I mean I love seaweed and when I was little living in Japan my grandmother would feed it to me as a snack. However, I cannot see eating 78 cups of it a day. I am sure some people were running to the store attempting to purchase all the seaweed they need instead of paying $560.00 for the pills. maybe al_wa owns stock in a seaweed company and was hoping to cash in or, he could be selling it on ebay.
