I can see that you love that show but it doesn't really seem relevant enough to me to try to bring it in for every review. Do you have like a blog or somewhere on Mark Spoils?

William's brother died in Klatch, in the short-lived war during Jingo.

This person also did a full lineup of the Ins And Outs (it's not spoilery) which I like. Checking their tag they draw a good Polly. I like whenever I see fanart of these characters that doesn't have the squad as just, well, pretty girls in uniform.

It's also reminiscent of organ donation in our world, though certain things are different. Transplants via Igor don't appear to come with risk of rejections, and they can get to work when the person and their body are really truly dead.

In our world transplants are always a bit fraught, and many organs can only be harvested in a useable state when they're alive, when the body is still fresh enough to breathe and pump blood, with or without outside assistance. Someone can have "organ donor" checked off on their card but families often back out and withdraw permission for them, because their loved one is still alive, by some measure. Iirc in an early case of organ donation - a man was shot and had no hope of recovery, his heart was harvested and transplanted - it went to court, the shooter claiming he hadn't killed the man, the transplant surgeon did!

We saw a bit of this kind of upbringing with William de Worde too, who managed to game the system of his school (I remember a note that he participated in sports in such a way that involved a lot of running and shouting and not getting hit). Blouse has asthma and seems poorly coordinated, at least, more poorly than William, so if there were mandatory violent sports better suited to more violent kids, he probably had to find a different way to escape getting bloodied.

Yeah. If there's any incompetence here it's that in that long pause he never just says "wait for the message to finish", though of course it's an open question whether Jackrum would accept that.

Pigeons used to be beloved, too, and almost all of them are descended from ones we bred to love us and breed constantly.

It's a lot like if suddenly most of humanity decided it hated dogs and turned them out of our houses and shelters, and when they got to sneaking back in and stealing and making messes we started looking for ways to kill them and finding their deaths meaningless or funny.

I really like Jackrum suggesting Igor take some legs off of the captives to give to Threeparts, and Threeparts evenly saying nah. I mean, it's horrifying, but it's a good character detail, whether it was a serious offer, a shared joke, or any combination therof.

It's good to get to see an Igor in more detail and at more length. This one seems to be more in the medical field than some we've seen before.
