Change.gov : Join the Discussion: Former Sen. Daschle responds on health care | Change.gov: The Obama-Biden Trans

I am very concerned about how we will pay for health care reform. I think we need to revolutionize the system, perhaps by having federal guidelines or parameters within which insurers must operate , i.e. take the power from the insurers. The issue of excessive executive compensation must also be dealt with. There is no reason why top executives for major insurers should be paid the amount they are. I have heard recently about support in Congress for taxing health care benefits. I think that is an awful idea. I thought so when McCain suggested it and I was happy to see President Elect Obama reject it. I would be bitterly disappointed to see him change course on this.
