Excellent article by Laura Rosen Cohen. I took part in a little protest outside a Toronto university on Friday where Azzam Tamimi, a known promoter of terrorists, was teaching the first of four sessions on the great and glorious history of Islam. One young Muslim man didn't like the fact that we were there and told some of us (most of whom were Jewish) that he wanted to become a suicide bomber and blow everybody up. He didn't say it as a joke. Later, when I asked if he had said that, he said, "Oh, you say stuff when you get angry". When a cop asked him, he responded with, "Well, they shouldn't be here in the first place..." How many of us, at any time in our lives, have gotten angry and threatened to murder people by strapping a bomb to our body? None? That's what I thought. I suspect that there are many Muslims in Canada who would echo his threat; I don't know how many would carry it out. The Muslim spokesmen who participate in multi-faith outreach and who speak so softly to Irwin Cotler would deny the existence of such threats but they are real and they are being revealed all around us. The young Muslim suicide-bomb-threatener admitted twice to saying it, in front of my video camera and in front of the cops, but he was not arrested. Meanwhile, the cop had the nerve to tell me that we shouldn't say that my religion is better than your religion or that my thoughts are better than your thoughts, because they're not. (I - ahem - clarified a few of the cops' statements.)

So let's institutionalize the inherent racism found in Muslim communities and in those of people of colour, is that what you're saying? Give in to their racism, don't fight it, don't educate against it, don't insist on equal job opportunities for white non-Muslims, is that what you're saying? Enforce no-go areas for white non-Muslims by preventing them from working in those areas, is that what you're saying?

True. I think it's worse than segregation because not only do Muslims have their own laws and their own courts now but this is setting it up to give them their own police force. It doesn't matter that, at this point in time, they supposedly have to conform to British laws. Who is enforcing that rule? When the Muslim population reaches critical mass, who will stop them from doing what they want? England is setting into place an Islamic legal system, with its own law enforcement, that will destroy the country from within.

In January, I went to a pro-Israel rally in downtown Toronto. Afterwards, i videotaped a conversation at the "Answers In Islam" booth across the street: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMXlko4VBO8 Some women were asking pointed questions of the Muslims such as: "Can I bring a Bible into Saudi Arabia?" and the police made them leave.

If you check the labels on my blog, you'll find more info about the group, including other videos (by other people, including the group itself). I'm not trying to link-whore, so I hope people don't mind that I've posted this. It was just such an awful experience and similar to this video. I couldn't believe they were using Hamas-style tactics in Canada. My husband said they had obviously been trained and had rehearsed their tactics. Someone else posted this video of "QuAIA" marching in the Pride Parade: http://lumpygrumpyandfrumpy.blogspot.com/2009/07/... Some friends and I think they are chanting, "Fist by fist, blow by blow, the apartheid state has got to go". But someone left a comment on my blog stating that they were chanting, "Brick by brick, wall by wall..." So I can't say for certain. All I can say is that friends who were in the crowd noticed that they were the only group that wasn't happy and fun. People, we are in trouble. I keep remembering what Robert wrote on January 1st about getting louder. If we don't speak up now, we're going to be in worse trouble. If not for ourselves, then we have to speak up now for our children and their children.
