Exactly... the tides ARE turning against them all. Patience of the people is wearing thin. These Longshoreman make it hard to be a proud union supporter.

In situations like this one, they recommend people avoid confrontations? That is dumb. Yeah - in the future, they recommend being a victim. I think this young lady did a fine job. Glad she is safe.

loss of "services, society and consortium" - so you're suing an 11 yo because your wife wont provide you with 'service'? You both are winners.

He may live longer, sure. Let's hope his family was included in the group of refugees, or their safety may be put at risk.

I disagree. Exposing US Government war crimes and corruption isn't a bad thing by any means, and on that, I agree. But in the manner of which this punk exposed our troops on the ground to greater risk by revealing this specific and accurate information is unforgivable. It's like a player walking across the field of play to provide the play book to the other team, and exposing the same book to the observers in the stands to our motives, tactics and agenda, where they can plan a potential offensive for themselves in the future! Give him a Nobel Peace Prize? Yeah, just like how Obama earned it... useless in this case, too. Fry the snot-nosed-kid.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but personally, if I had to hold onto my baby's diapers for two weeks, I would probably get a complaint from the neighbors (smell).

By PROVIDING SERVICE, people will typically obey the rules OF the service... The only viable solution is to allow weekly pick-up from those who elect it. Make it optional! Any service you buy from the private sector, provides you with options. But Government - you get little or no options (yes, Garbage is clearly controlled by the Government). Most people will choose what works best for them, and you don't charge more for it (rates just went up again, anyway). People who break the rules wouldn't need to if the service met their needs. Clearly, the garbage in Portland, is NOT serving the needs.

Who Hoo... now we can get everything we need for our drinks in one stop, rather than having to hit-up the grocery store separately for Ice, 7-up, etc... I feel a little sad for those who lost their jobs, but ya know, it isn't like you didn't have months of notice.

Each of those lost positions would have to earn an average of $100k per year (including benefits and payroll taxes paid by the company) in order to save HP that much money. Now... 27k people earning over 100k per year being jobless will be a huge hit to the jobless recovery.
