Noone is bothered when someone uses "Ireland" to mean only the Republic, but use "Ulster" in place of Northern Ireland and you're guaranteed a comment like this. If it's obvious from the context, eg Royal Ulster Constabulary or Ulster Defence Regiment then I dont see a problem

In the same way Stalin was never really our ally in WW2, Iran did not fight ISIS as a favour to the West, it did so to further it's own ambitions of regional hegemony. It's perfectly possible to be anti ISIS and anti the Iranian regime

Whoever led the Party into the 2001 election wasn't going to do very well, the electorate wasn't sick of Blair at that stage. It might have been wiser for him personally to wait until New Labour was starting to reach it's sell by date, but Hague was a good leader.
