InsideRealEstateNews.com : Denver No. 5 on Case-Shiller

That\\\'s interesting, Dave. Even though it\\\'s a different world writing a blog than reporting for a newspaper, for the most part I try to be like Switzerland - neutral. I always welcome a variety of points of views, of course. I wonder what other readers think. John

Kris, That\\\'s interesting. Maybe some techie can explain why the second half of the second story can be found online. Of course, even I know once something has appeared on the Internet, it never truly disappears. I went on Forbes.com and it is clear that they have officially removed the links to both articles.
InsideRealEstateNews.com : Saving Grace, but not her home

Steve, I\\\'m guessing it is going to sell for more than the asking price. The home is an easy walk to Patsy\\\'s Restaurant and the Bugs Theatre, to name just two nearby local landmarks. It is at the edge of the trendy Highland neighborhood. I plan to watch what happens to the house. The city, for tax purposes, assesses its value at $121,200. John

Bruce, FYI, there were 13,353 permanent loan modifications in California through December 2009. That accounts for 7.75 percent of the 158,935 active trials in the state. California had the most active trials and permanent modifications, followed by Florida with 97,703 loans in trial modifications and 8,405 permanent modifications. North Dakota was at the bottom with 15 permanent modifications and 190 active trials. John

InsideRealEstateNews.com : Except for luxury homes, Denver's housing market is robust

I'm not taking a position. I try to report the news as objectively as possible. I welcome input from all points of views. I think you raise valid issues. And I do think there is a shadow market The question is how big is it, what will the impact be, and when will we see the repercussions. My observation covering business for more than 25 years at the Rocky Mountain News is that a strong economy ultimately is what is needed to right a bad market. It is amazing how the slate of bad decisions made by consumers, lenders and businesses can be wiped clean if there are more jobs and more demand for housing. Thanks for writing. I appreciate your thoughtful comments and suggestions. John
