Big Government : How the MSM Might Survive: Come Out of the Ideological Closet

It will be interesting to see whether a proposed media bailout would be the final straw for the American people. I'd like to think it would be. Also, I have some perspective on the "Pinch" nickname. His father, Arthur Sulzberger Sr was nicknamed "Punch", which I don't know the origin of. Anyway, while he was, of course, very liberal, he was by most accounts a smart and decent man. When Jr started learning the business, many longtime NYT people didn't think much of him compared to the old man, and started calling him "Pinch".

Big Government : Tea Party Dilemma: Honey, I Shrunk the Party

I agree with what everyone is saying here. Voting for RINOs is a big part of how we got where we are. If the Republicans can't represent conservatives, who are more than 50% of the country, then a new party will have to do it instead.

Big Government : Axelrod and Emanuel Help Shape ACORN Coverage?

What I really want to know, although it frightens me greatly, is - who is really pulling the strings? I think we've seen enough of Obama and his staff in the White House to see that they are in over their head. I don't think they really have that much control over the media, entertainment and academia. And yet, each day, like magic, we are treated to a coordinated assault on the truth through as many outlets as possible, all covering or not covering the same topics in the same ways. Whoever is behind that is who we have to take down, regardless of the cost.

Big Government : ACORN Layoffs are Taxpayer Rip-offs

It's pretty rare that you come across a person/organization that cannot be parodied because you can't come up with anything more ridiculous or implausible than what they are already doing.

Big Government : The Media's Complicity: Analysis of ACORN Coverage

I was about to comment on the number of "trolls" posting on this thread and complain, but I realized it's a good thing. Too often, debates on the internet are between people who are only reading one side of things. So, welcome davide and others, and I hope you will be back. Following up on news stories that are either a) no longer in the active cycle with the MSM, or b) never showed up at all there, is likely to be quite eye-opening for you. If you do keep coming to this site, one thing you will notice is that the people who believe the things you currently feel are crazy are quite a bit smarter, nicer and well-meaning than you have been led to believe. Please consider that, and consider what that means about everything else MSNBC, CNN, etc are telling you.

I agree! It's looking more and more like the MSM is intentionally complicit in all of this, and not just ACORN. I've always been a believer in the "Don't ascribe to malevolence what can be explained by stupidity" philosophy, but I don't think stupidity/incompetence could possibly account for what we're seeing from the media day-in, day-out now.

Wow, every week something more terrifying comes to light. I have to admit that even though I've read a lot of history, I never thought America could get this creepy this fast. It puts the whole "how did they let that happen?" question I've often asked myself about other countries in other times in a whole new and disturbing light.

Big Government : President Barack Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize

I think in the long run this actually ends up hurting him. People are justifiably laughing their butts off over this, and it plays right into the "premature adulation" talk that's already attached to this guy. It also may jolt a few people who have been on the fence into realizing how dangerous the domestic and international climate is right now for freedom and human rights. Several of my more liberal friends are even poking fun at this, so there's reason to hope.

Andrew, please keep up the good work! If it weren't for you and a handful of others, we would no longer have anything resembling a free press in this country. The attacks are coming because you are succeeding in reaching a large number of people with the Left's least favorite thing - the truth.

Breitbart.com : Obama: Government to set global warming example

The best part of all this is that they are pushing this agenda at the tail end of nearly a decade of cooling, and less than a week after the ubiquitous hockey stick graphs have been shown to be based on ten cherry-picked trees in Russia. That's right - global economic policy based on 10 carefully chosen trees! Meanwhile, ocean temps are also cooling, sea levels are clearly not rising, etc.

Big Government : Climate Change: The 'Planned Recession' Strategy

Among the many truly terrifying things going on lately, the fact that the AGW alarmists continue to push the hoax in the face of nearly a decade of cooling temperatures takes the "Big Lie" to a whole new level. Honestly, I've been appalled with this stuff for a long time now, ever since the original hockey stick came out, and for some reason didn't include the Medieval Warm Period, without which the Vikings couldn't have spread as they did. I guess the only thing to be happy about is that they are clearly getting desperate, and feel that this is their last chance to get control over all industry, as we are finally getting close to a majority of the public realizing it's been a hoax from day one. Having said that, how do we draw more attention to the real data, and the suppression of science going on at NOAA? As the folks over at ICECAP (http://icecap.us/index.php) have done a good job of documenting, NOAA has been gradually stripping out "inconvenient" data sources to help maintain the fiction. That's our tax dollars being used for outright fraud instead of science.

Breitbart.com : Gibbs: Obama \'disappointed\' at losing Olympics

Yes, how dare we behave like Democrats, even for one day! The truth is, as others have pointed out, the people here were not rooting against their country, they were rooting against a corrupt organization and the arrogant lightweight we have in the White House. Frankly, rooting against an Olympic bid going to a corrupt city is nothing like, say, rooting against your own Armed Forces as they go in to root out the Taliban, but no one would *ever* do something like that, would they? If only we had a President who understood European nuance, who wouldn't piss off our historical allies and embarrass us overseas.... Wait, I've heard that somewhere before.
