As a Whittier resident, (somewhat near Monterey Park) I can agree with many of your points. I felt about "Crash" the way you do while sitting through it. It's typical Hollywood, showing all the dis-functionality of people in this country and this city.

However I disagree with one coment. I don't this area is "artificial", or at least any more than any other town. In fact, your stories about relations with other people sounds like you don't think of them as artificial.

One other point: Isn't the most important thing about any place the people who live in it? Hating the city but loving the people seems odd to me. I assume it's not the buildings you hate. Hate the traffic. Hate the smog. Hate the crowding. But hate the city itself?

Actually, I think the right definition of political correctness is statements and actions that advance the political cause. Thus a thing is "correct" politically if it helps the political cause. For Communists and leftists from the first part of the 20th century to today, in entertainment, education and the media, it involves showing how ugly America is. It is mostly subtly done, so that people feel the validity of the America being portrayed without realizing that it's propaganda. The result is that over the decades many people have come to lose faith in America. This is difficult to fight.

It's nice to see supporters turn against Dear Leader, but don't be fooled. They aren't seeing the error of their ways and rejecting leftism. They are turning against DL because he's a failure at achieving the leftist dream.

What a silly rant. He doesn't seem to understand that people didn't want his health care bill, so they will count that against him. Can I see some footnotes about the economic recovery we are going through?

When he says we are ungovernable, he may be right, thank God. What he means is that we won't obey our betters like him.

I knew Bill Press was a lefty, but I never heard his profound thoughts before.

This was one of the stupidest movies ever. Here's something that most people don't know: You know that problem up on the bulletin board that no one at MIT but the janitor could solve? I actually studied graduate mathematics including the specific area that problem addressed. The problem would be appropriate for a first week homework assignment. Of course, hardly anyone would know that and so it doesn't detract from the general narrative of what a genius the author of the movie was.

Yeah, that's it. Let's have Chuck Norris ask all the questions from now on.

I've been thinking about this all day. It seemed like such an over-the-top reaction, that I couldn't quite get my mind around it, and then it dawned on me. You know how in the horror movies there is often a scene where tension builds and you SCREAM as the door opens, and it's just the cat? Everyone in the theater laughs at that point because they feel silly screaming at that.

These guys are really scared. Scared of the voters, scared of the internet, scared of Breitbart, REALLY SCARED. That's what brought about this violent reaction.

I think that ultimately interest in a sport has to be cultivated over time. When I was growing up we had baseball, football, basketball, and tennis. I am interested in those, but not soccer. If I had grown up with soccer I probably would be interested. All the psychological analysis is silly. It has nothing to do with racism, or not using the hands or allowing ties or that the US isn't very good at it. We just haven't had much experience with it and so aren't that interested.

It's just subjective preferences. Put away your psych books.

Thank you Bob, or should I say "Congressman" (you worked hard for that title), for that heart felt apology. We all get a little out of sorts now and then and beat up children. All is forgiven.
