OMG I've been trolled by a religious nut. I hope you realize the bible was written by humans. In fact, many stories in the bible were taken from other religious beliefs that predate christianity by hundreds or even thousands of years. These stories, of course, were all just observations about the stars in the night sky which were given anthropomorphic qualities. Kings, pharaohs, and other rulers throughout the centuries have been using religion to manipulate the masses throughout the years -- just look at the crusades! You know why they call it blind faith? Because, they want you to be blind so they can manipulate you for their own desires. I really don't want to go back and forth with you anymore... I find that those with strong religious beliefs are the most stubborn, because they've been brought up to ignore and discredit anything that conflicts with their beliefs.

So, you can keep believing in something that has no empirical evidence, trying to find some absolute truth you'll never find because you're working within the confines of some arbitrary religious beliefs made up by some guys thousands of years ago. Or, you can go down the rabbit hole and discover first off the truth about religion, by watching the Zeitgeist movies. Until then, I refuse to argue with you because your beliefs are not based on anything factual, so even if you use logic and reasoning, your conclusions will always be flawed. It's no wonder you're so confused.

Anyway, I hope I don't come across as a dick, but I usually do. Regardless, I hope you are having a great holiday season and happy new year to you as well.

Keep living in your fairy tale dream world where our current social structure is perfect and our government really, truly cares about you and is going to take care of you. Insults aside, you seem to fail to realize that the constant circulation of money within the economy is what keeps it going. If people don't have money to spend or aren't willing to spend it due to economic circumstances, then companies limit the production of their products and lay off employees. On a large scale, this has dire consequences, which history has shown us. Had we tried to \"pay off our debts\" and \"live within our means\" as many have suggested, we would be far behind the rest of the world in virtually every sector and it would have taken a very, very long time for us to finally recover. The point is, the debt doesn't matter so much as the constant circulation of money within the system.

Money IS debt. That's the sick thing, which you don't even realize.

It provides us with new information. With that new information, we can continue with the process and obtain even more information. It is not a matter of being right or wrong when you use the scientific method; rather, it is simply a way to learn about the environment around us. You use the scientific method every day, perhaps even thousands of times a day, without even realizing it.

You asked whether or not it is the correct means to an end. You shouldn't be thinking of it in terms of whether or not that's how you should be obtaining information; instead, you should ask yourself whether or not it works. Considering the technology and knowledge that science has given us with the scientific method, I'd say it works.

First of all, it's not nonsense. Secondly, just because I'm allowed to vote doesn't mean a damn thing, because the system is a farce anyway. Third, if you're depressed because people you think are morons have the right to vote, then I have to hand it to you for not committing suicide yet since there's probably too many of these morons to even keep track of.

Why isn't this nonsense? Because, WWII got us out of the first GD by way of deficit spending -- our government was taking massive loans out from the Fed in order to fund the war, which eventually put a lot of money back into the system. Right now, we're still in a war, which isn't nearly the scale of WWII, but coupled with the insane bailouts and whatnot we have going on at home, both should be just enough deficit spending to do it. When our troops come home, you'll see a difference.

Why is the system a farce? Do you really think that just because you can stand in front of a voting machine and press buttons for PRE-SELECTED candidates that you live in a democracy? Are you dumb? After they're elected, you have virtually no say as to what goes on in the country. Decisions aren't made on the basis of what's most efficient or logical (science), but by the meaningless human opinion of whoever is in the political position to make said decision. Is it any surprise that Obama's approval rating has been steadily dropping ever since he got in office? Of course not -- people are just realizing once again that the president can't or won't do what he promised to do or what the people want him to do. If you want to try to change something about our country, all you can do is write your congressman and sit there in your home steaming about whatever it is that angers you. I suppose you could try to organize a rally and go protest in the streets, but the point is you have to go to extreme measures in order to have your voice heard by these swine and even that isn't usually worth a damn. That sure as hell doesn't sound to me like a democracy.

Why did I bother to respond to you? Because you appeared to be ignorant and I wanted to provide you with some additional knowledge. Take it or leave it.

The scientific method is the best way to extract the truth of the reality in which we live. Regarding human affairs, the absolute truth may sometimes, unfortunately, never be uncovered. This is because humans destroy evidence and accounts of specific events. Therefore, no matter how much we dig, we may never find the proof we are looking for, but there seems to always be fragmented evidence from which we can draw our own, near-accurate conclusions.

Reality is much different, thankfully. Reality does not lie to us, nor does it try to cover up or destroy evidence. Using the scientific method, we can learn more about our existence and the way things naturally work. It is important to understand that everything is emergent, meaning it is constantly undergoing change. Therefore, future scientific endeavors may one day refute, contradict, or expand on some of the knowledge we have today. We must keep an open mind and allow new ideas to blossom. Eventually, we will uncover some of the absolute truths of the universe.

I'm not saying the history of WWII is inaccurate. I'm saying the public is easily influenced by the media. A history book will pretty much tell you everything that happened before, during, and after the war. What it won't tell you are the things that went on behind the scenes. You have to dig around to find out those truths. The more truths you know, the greater your sum of knowledge and the greater your perspective become.

And also... of course there is absolute truth; unlike relative truth, which can sometimes be distorted and misleading, it doesn't bend to the wishes and desires of human beings. Absolute truth is untouchable by humans.

I spoke with a doctor I know about you, Roger, and he highly recommends that you seek psychiatric help. Given your lack of knowledge and complete failure to grasp reality, he feels you are a threat to those around you. He also mentioned something about being concerned you might suffocate yourself by having your head so far up your ass, but I told him you just enjoy the aroma.

Anyway, good luck with that \"liberal\" dictionary and good luck with your cookie-cutter world view!

While there was probably less corruption and thus more reputable news sources in the 1940's, there was certainly still a good deal of biased, agenda-based news. The media is a powerful influential tool; governments know this. To assume they would not exert their influence on popular news sources is naive. After all, the more brainwashed society is, the easier it is to maintain control over them. In other words, don't believe everything you hear. You have to dig for the truth and it isn't always easy.

Sure, Roger. Sure. By the way, it brings me great joy knowing how much you dislike me. I mean, you're digging through this thread to find replies I've sent to other people so that you can continue to express your dislike of me, while all I'm doing is replying to messages in my inbox.
The best social structure is one governed by science. We have not yet seen a social structure that can be sustainable for the future. If we continue down our current path, we'll probably end up destroying ourselves or the planet. I agree that individual liberty is a necessity for the best society, but that society's decisions must be determined by the scientific method.

Our societies today promote artificial scarcity through money. As a result, we must fight with each other in order to survive. Corruption is inherent in our social structure; in fact, it is the very foundation. When profit is the primary goal, all conflicting interests lose out.

I agree wholeheartedly with your point of view on this matter, but only if we were to maintain the same basic structure we have now. However, science and technology can do so much for us that we can erect a much better society altogether.

The movie wasn't very popular because it wasn't advertised heavily. Most people, when they heard the movie's tag line, felt they would be better off not watching it.
