This photo was taken by a former Navy photographer who is deservedly very proud of her picture and bewildered by the negative comments about it. It's a photo I wish I had conceived and taken myself. I find nothing offensive or disrespectful in the picture. I think it is very respectful and expressive about what the American military and naval services stand for. If I had a copy of the photograph, I'd be happy to give it a place of honor in my office.
