The way I see it is this: If you are unhappy with your God-given freedom, by all means we don't want to infringe upon your God-given right to reject it. Please, pack up your bags and move somewhere else, Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea, any of those will do. Do NOT infringe on the liberties and freedoms OTHERS enjoy, don't take up our breathing space. IF on the other hand you are happy living in America and all she stands for, then with all your breath HELP US DEFEND HER, SHE IS UNDER ASSAULT!

From my experience with this presidential election, I believe that many people were swindled, or to use a better term easily swayed by Obama's "Republican friendly" language. People listened to him every time he gave a speech and bought everything he said; fell for it hook line and sinker. When a reporter would confront him with our suspicions of his having Socialistic tendencies, he laughed it off. He MOCKED us and our fears. What I propose we ALL do is look into a candidates PAST, yes a past IS important when it comes to public office. And YES associations are VERY important, it says a lot about who you are. Democrats tried to shame us by accusing us of "guilt by association" and in part, yes, they are RIGHT! And guess what, it's OKAY! If you are with bad people, their habits are BOUND to rub off on you, not always, but the likelihood is definitely there. They thought he would change, like flipping on a light switch, his tendencies, the way he voted, everything, from Senator to President, and folks, it doesnt happen that way. So, my two cents this time around, PAY ATTENTION TO ACTIONS, THEY SPEAK VOLUMES!
I particularly agree with the enforcement of EXISTING laws. There is NO NEED to create a law to enforce the one that already exists! That constitutes facilitating "loopholes" around those already exisiting laws.
I just had a thought, to go along with the term limits idea, where our Congressmen and Congresswomen would serve LIMITED time in gov't, according to our founding fathers, they were expected to know how to DO something other than govern. They were expected to get REAL JOBS in the PRIVATE SECTOR. Perhaps, and this is just perhaps, if we, the public at large saw our Congresspeople doing jobs, just like us, it would give the private sector a respect and admiration that it has not had, in a long time and we would think twice before villainizing it. If they did it, it would give it credence, in the eyes of those who think "we the people" are greedy. If they had to work like us, maybe they would appreciate our tenacity and candor and passion.
I agree. Our founding fathers NEVER INTENDED for our Congressmen and Congresswomen to reign supreme for terms and terms and terms. They were elected, to serve a LIMITED amount of time, and they were capable of doing something else in the PRIVATE SECTOR.
To add to your very well-stated post, also look to the nations around us, I.E. Russia (who have aspirations of claiming Alaska as their territory) and North Korea (who allegdly, and I believe it, have a missle ON ITS LAUNCH PAD ready to be fired...capable of reaching Alaska. I believe this is a large part of the "test" as well.
That would limit me out. I am a citizen of the US but don't own my own home. I would hate to give up my right to vote just because I don't own my own home. I own a car, would that count to you? That's about all.
Aside from all the ideas that have already been given here, many of which I've thought of myself so there's no need to repeat, one that I feel is very important is: Focus on giving to our children what we DID have (a good, safe, prosperous country), rather than going crazy trying to give him/her all the things (material) that we didn't have. Sometimes the most important things in life are the ones that were there all the time, staring us in the face.
WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS UNACCEPTABLE AND WE WILL NOT PUT UP WITH IT ANYMORE! God bless you guys that are organizing tea parties, attending tea parties, organizing protests, sending things to our Representatives and the White House. You are MAKING a DIFFERENCE! Don't let anyone make you feel small. Don't let anyone tell you that what you're doing doesn't matter, IT DOES. If we try, and in the end nothing got done, then that's on THEM, not on YOU. The terrible thing would be that you did NOTHING and nothing got done. YOU MATTER. I MATTER. WE DO INDEED SURROUND THEM! WE ALWAYS HAVE WE ALWAYS WILL.
I agree it's frustrating and mind-boggling that one can even ignore it at this point. But here's what gets me more. I know people who were born in Cuba....and they remember how they had to live, trading item for item, because there wasn't enough of something. They had to dilute sweetened condensed milk because there wasn't any milk, for example, of some of the things they had to do, out of necessity...if there were eggs, and someone else needed them, and they had something you needed, you made a trade for it....and those people who lived through that, are afraid it might happen to us here. And they refuse to get into our situation because it's sort of their way to protect themselves....I'm not sure if I made myself absolutely clear, if not please ask and I"ll try to re-explain it...but point is, they are afraid that our way of life here will have to change drastically, for our very survival, and they don't want to deal with it. It's not going to go away that way....we NEED to be aware of what's happening, we NEED to publicly let them know that this is UNACCEPTABLE. UNACCEPTABLE, DO YOU HEAR US WASHINGTON????
