Please be careful.

Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for tithing. tithing from their garden spices (tithes were from produce & animals in those days), and not focusing on "the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy & faith"

to me, cussing is probably at the bottom of the list. If you're loving people & taking up your cross daily, being patient, gentle, kind, generous, sacrificial, joyful, peaceful, etc, maybe then you should worry about cussing. If you're not cussing, but you're not loving your neighbor, not helping the poor, woe to you - read the bible again.

wow. They can't swear around you? Do they trust you to speak into their life? Are they interested in Christ because of your righteous life, or are they turned-off by what they perceive as legalism?

Jesus was friends with sinners, so much so that he was disdained by the religious people of his day. Let us not follow the same legalistic path of the pharisees, and be condemned by Jesus himself for it.

Can't wait for Catalyst West! It is one of the most innovative, creative & fun conferences I've ever been to, Church or otherwise. Also, they have a great variety of speakers, exposing me to thoughts from all ends of the denominational spectrum.

If you have an extra day, you should ABSOLUTELY check-out Catalyst Labs. that's my favorite part of the conference! You get to hear from several lesser known speakers in a more intimate setting & ask questions. Love it.

Can't wait to hear your talk, Michael.

Jason, I tweeted a lot about the Red Tractor video you shared, but I never mentioned you. I'm sorry. I'll do it one more time and be sure to give you credit. Thanks for sharing that video!!!

Ron, thank you for sharing this! Much needed! I think we can easily mistake attendance & giving increasing as the only goal and therefore ignore everything else.

This is a great post! I love stuff like this. I'd actually like to see a series of posts, or perhaps a little further explanation of these (you know me, Ron! =) What I'm saying is, I think it would be really helpful to have something like where you expand on "Recognizes the value in other people" - you might explain: "here's an example of that" - "here's an example of not doing that" "here are the benefits of it" "here's what happens when you don't recognize the value" - "here's a good way to invest in them" ... etc. Really fleshing it out.

Because, while we all might agree, "Yeah, of course that's important for a leader" we may not all know how to do it, or what it really looks like. Furthermore, we may not all be convinced it's in the top 10, but you can convince me with examples.

But I'm not criticizing this post. Great stuff! Love your blog! I want more! Seriously, you should write a book, I think it would help lots of leaders.
