I served on two submarines, the Nathan Hale and the Nevada. I also served on a submarine tender the U.S.S. Holland. I received many awards for outstanding service to my country. But I received them from my captain who I greatly respected in all three tours. Not once did I receive or ever want something from the Congress, Senate, or White House except a nice pay raise (which I see happened after I got out, bravo). I logged over 3 years submerged in isolation duty and I can tell you I did NOT do it for the Congress... I did it for my family, my friends, and even for the freaks I detest so they could have the right to burn the flag or protest against the military.
