I have serious misgivings over a Leonardo diCaprio Gatsby. I don't agree with Mulligan being cast as Daisy. I think Tobey is the perfect Carraway. But you can bet I'll be at the theatre the day it opens, come hell or high water.

Sounds like Mad Men, hobo-style. But when you think of most of the great artists, and they way they paved their own roads, it seems like it's littered with the bodies and broken hearts and disillusion of all the people in their lives. Does one have to be selfish to be brilliant; ruthless to be recognized?

Time management is key. I'm going to try something new and see if the ideas come more easily if I'm doing some meditative type acts. For some reason, washing dishes ( I HATE using dishwashers) always dislodges something in my head...we'll see.

I did go for a bike ride with one of my younger daughters, after endless pestering on her part. The sun beat down so mercilessly that cognitive function wasn't in the cards for me. But I did get some work done: I cleaned off my desk, organized, and even threw in some free-writing. When I think back to some of the better reviews I've written, I realize that most of them took hold while I was doing something else.

Oh, Domestic Violets was one of my favorite reads of last year. I wasn't thrilled with the end but the rest of the novel was impeccable, so I know it's going to be a reread. What shocked the heck out of me was how well he was able portray Tom's mother and wife. This is a writer who understands women.

Thanks for coming by, Jess. I'm happy to say I didn't fall, and after my initial hesitance, I've picked up riding with Emma. She loves to go before school in the mornings, and I'm glad to go because for the first time all year long, it's easy to wake her up. You know, I still have these silly dreams that I walk into the band hall and realize I don't know any of the music, and then I wonder who's going to find me out. I wonder what that all means...

I'd say you should start with The Crack Up. It's not easy to find; more than likely you'll have to order it online bc brick and mortar stores don't typically carry it. Thanks for stopping by:)
