I think Castillo has been pretty good this year.....I'm not ready to write him off just yet.

Fair assessment. He is better at his hitting than his D so I'd imagine I'd obsess more over the thing I'm better at too.

I am excited to see how Murphy continues to develop, but is anyone else worried about his obsession with hitting? Granted, a good hitting outfielder will allow people to overlook defensive shortcomings, but we're not talking Manny Rameriez here....we're talking Daniel Murphy. Maybe a few less hours in the batting cages and some more working with Razor Shines in the outfield would do him good. Just a thought.

MetsBlog.com : Opinion: Day 1 in Citi Field

While I agree 100% that it does seem silly to complain about this beautiful new ballpark (I've only seen it on TV so far)....if this is true about the obstructed views....and I don't mean just the corners...I mean large chunks of the OF like the posters above pointed out....that is ridiculous. I'm going on Saturday, so I'll be able to see for myself.

MetsBlog.com : Note: Castillo's Sac-Bunt

Well, I wouldn't go as far as you go with the negative commentary about the site, but I do agree with disagreeing with Matt's take. Castillo took a risk....technically it is not the right play....but nothing was working off of Johnson yesterday - the 3b was playing back and was an inexperienced 3b at that (according to the Marlins announcers, anyway). If you get on, now you have 1st and 3rd, 1 out and a pinch hitter coming up. I have no problem with that play. Murph....not only did he drop the ball, he broke in 2-3 steps before scampering back. This game is on Murph in the field, and the offense collectively not hitting a lick. It was nice however to see a 2hour game......

Apparently Shef was getting good ovations at the open workout the team did before the season began. I don't know about him being boo'd. Ollie on the other hand.........might as well be Heilman...he is going to get an earful.

It really is......I don't know if it because it's a Yankee thing.....but when they panned after Cano's HR ball...which Kay was WAYYY too exited about...I was thinking - this is one ugly stadium.

Oh and in regards to this post...yes, it did look different - but good. The park looks GREAT. I flipped over to MLB Network, and I don't like the new Yankee Stadium at all. That oversized scoreboard/video screen in CF looks so outta place.

Anyone see this from the article about Shef from Mets.com? "Sheffield will play right field on what Manuel hopes will be a regular basis, potentially supplanting Ryan Church for the starting job." Think the Mets have bigger plans for him than they were letting on??

I used to like Rosenthal when all he did was write......I thought he always did a good job a that and breaking some stories. Now Fox puts a camera in front of him, and I don't know if it is his speech pattern or what....but I can't stand the guy!

MetsBlog.com : Buzz: Mets Discussing Sheffield

Initially, I scream NO WAY when I think of Gary Sheffield on the Mets. Then I think.....he certainly isn't going to start with the Phillies......is he going to start with the Reds? It doesn't seem like there are starter jobs out there for them so he has no choice but to conform and be a role player. When right.....and that should be the debate (I don't think he is)......he is a right handed power threat at the plate, and I would love him coming off the bench as opposed to a Marlon Anderson. If he misbehaves even slightly, you cut him....I believe he will only cost the league minimum anyway. But....then again, I'm sure there is a reason why he is even available at this point.....And it is a combination of everyones' fears here......nothing left, and bad attitude.
