My grandson was required to bring a travel size bottle of sunscreen with him on the first day of school. He comes up to me on a sunny day and says "GJ, I need sunscreen, please". He's 5. He doesn't have a skin condtition, he's not even particularly fair skinned. He's just been taught that when you go out in the sun, you put on sunscreen. Pretty simple really.
