Celtics Town : Celtics pulverize Pistons 119-93

I was thinking the same thoughts. The blowout win was nice, but so was the blowout win against Indiana. Smackdowns of inferior opponents mean little to nothing when the NBA's beasts are toying with you. Still, a blowout win against anyone sure beats a loss to New Jersey. We can only hope the Celtics are headed in the right direction.

Celtics Town : Sorry, guys, this isn't about the Celtics

Thanks, man. If you think Skidmore's in the middle of nowhere, you should check out Williams. Their logo is the cow for one of two reasons: It's either 1) Williamstown is populated by more cows than people, or 2) cows are more attractive than 75% of the girls there.

Celtics Town : Doc Rivers pondering lineup changes

I like it, but as you said I don't think Perk is ever going anywhere but the first unit. Don't forget about Finley, either!

Sheed is silently changing his ways and readying himself for the stretch run. He's played in the post more and more, and has generally been more active on defense. We're starting to see a different, improved Rasheed. Hopefully, everyone else can change along with him.

Celtics Town : The good and bad of Doc Rivers

I agree with you. They definitely lose the edge, or at least this team has. Not that Tim Duncan or Ray Allen ever wore their emotions on their sleeves, but veteran teams definitely tend to tone it down more often during the regular season than young teams. Whether it's a testament to shrinking talent or just boredom remains to be seen. We'll find out once the playoffs start, I suppose. It was nice to get a break from that tonight with the blowout.

Agreed. But the things Finley would bring are his veteran experience and nice outside shot. Doc Rivers, as much as we'd like him to, isn't going to give any young guys a chance. Definitely not now, as the season winds down. He's been against young guys, for whatever reason, for a long time. He would consider playing a guy like Finley, but I don't think he'd ever give any minutes to an unproven D-League callup, no matter how much better he may be than Finley.

Celtics Town : Eddie House's finest moment in Celtics Green

I know. Watching this play literally gives me the chills. What a Herculean effort. Wally's pretty slow, but Eddie's no Usain Bolt either. It was pure heart. Celtics could use some of that heart the remainder of the season, even though Eddie won't be in Boston anymore.

Celtics Town : Marquis Daniels possibly part of Nate Robinson trade?

No way they give up Gallo. He's their most talented player and makes $3 mil a year. I think it would have to be a third team to have Daniels involved, but -- as above -- with House saying he'll be traded and Daniels not notified, looks like we'll still have 'Quisy tomorrow.

My pleasure. What else was I going to do all day... study? Please. I don't know where Marquis would fit in in a trade to New York. There would probably have to be a third team involved. That Eddie House has been told he will be traded and Daniels hasn't likely means we're safe, though.

Celtics Town : Rumor: Ainge 'reluctant to pull trigger' on Allen trade

I wouldn't want Nocioni at all. His contract is $7 mil for the next two years, and he's not a game-changer, really. Martin would be nice, but he'd almost definitely have to be packaged with Nocioni, and I'm not sure Ainge goes for that. Plus, A. Sherrod Blakely said Martin isn't likely to be moved anywhere. Iggy and Dalembert might work. The drawbacks are that Dalembert has an awful $12 million contract for next season, so it would be a hefty sum for Wyc and the rest of the owners to pay. Also, Iggy has a large contract of himself, and it's long-term. I think Iggy fits the best skill-wise of the players rumored to come here, but his contract is simply bad. The problem with Boston is that they have all the talent necessary to make a championship run, they've just been under-achieving. I wish the deadline could come a week or two later, so they could have a little more time to right the ship or see if it keeps sinking. Ainge is in a tough spot.

Celtics Town : Throwing some dimes: Rondo blade talk, Allen trade talk

Sheed isn't the only problem. On a veteran team, one lazy sixth man shouldn't be able to completely infect the rest of the team. But I saw something on NBATV last night that sparked my curiosity. Charles Barkley said that there came a time in his career when people couldn't expect him to be healthy anymore; he wasn't hurt, he was just old. Full health just wasn't coming back. And the Celtics might be the same way. It might have gotten to the point where we all rue their lack of heart and energy on the court but, in reality, they're all working as hard as their old, beaten-down bodies can take.

I think it tends to be the other way around. When the wheels fall off, they all fall off. As a team gets older, injuries are going to happen. KG will never be the same. Pierce will be more banged up than he has been. Still, other injuries like The Eleventh Hour's are just bad luck. Hopefully, things will turn around.
