Wireframes : Living CSS Style Guides & Pattern Libraries

These are all great tools. A hosted alternative for these is Patternry, a service we created to make building pattern libraries and other front-end resources simple: http://patternry.com

The UI Pattern Factory : Carousel

Well, there is no standard way to design a carousel, just guidelines, so no, it is not required ;) But it always depends on the context is it important to show the number of items in the carousel or not. If the number of items in the carousel is huge, the user can get frustrated if he/she doesn't know how many items there are left. But also, if the number of items in it is huge, carousel might not be a good solution at all. It would be interesting to see some usability test results from carousel usage.

The UI Pattern Factory : Edit-In-Place

Thanks for the comment. I've found that finding a good name for a pattern that is commonly in use can be really difficult. The names also tend to change by time. But we are redesigning out library, and there might be a feature that allows users to change the name of a pattern to what they want...

The UI Pattern Factory Blog : Announcing the new name for our pattern library 2.0

My suggestion was "User Interface Design Pattern Library Application" but the others thought it was a bit too long ;) Well, it is just a name, and we think it doesn't need to explain excatly what the app does.

The UI Pattern Factory : Same-Page Feedback Messages

Thanks, we like it too ;) Flickr integration is implemented using Flickr badge, which is a really simple way to bring content from Flickr to here. It works great, but we are actually working on to replace the badge with our own code, which will give us more freedom in showing the images.

The UI Pattern Factory : Input Controls

Hi, I'm sorry, but I wasn't aware of this. I use WordPress blog engine to run this blog, and by default, WordPress uses 'nofollow' tag. The comment system I use is IntenseDebate which uses JavaScript, making the comments invisible to search engines. I did some research on this and found a way to solve the problem, and I will fix this issue ASAP. Thanks for pointing this out.

The UI Pattern Factory : Input Controls

Stephan, in this case stand-alone checkbox is used for a single option that the user can turn on or off. "I don't agree to terms of service" is not important option, so using radio buttons would be incorrect in this context.

Some of you might have noticed that two comments disappeared from this pattern. The other comment was from Mike who asked for source code for implementing this pattern, and the other was my comment, which again here: "If you are ASP.NET developer, here is some source code and examples for you: Steve Sanderson’s blog: Editing a variable-length list of items in ASP.NET MVC This is the only example I found when I wrote this pattern.
