KOMO - Seattle, WA : Man pleads guilty to attacking dog with a hatchet | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather, Sports

No the dog owner is not to blame. Yes - he is perhaps an irresponsible pet owner - but the only person to blame for this horrific attack is the nutjob who did it. We have barking dogs on each side of our home - we have talked to the pet owners - but they don't care. Would I harm the dogs? Absolutely not! It isn't their fault they are untrained and left outside alone and unattended for hours and hours. Did this guy call animal control or the police to get help with the problem? Doesnt sound like it. He went to the effort to lure the dog, then tie it up - then submit it to horrible and terrible torture. Decent human beings don't do this to living creatures. This evil man is lower than dog crap! I would venture to guess he probably enjoyed himself.

There has to be a special place in hell for people who torture animals or children. There is no remorse on his face - he gives me the creeps - cold and evil. Reading the story was difficult - that poor, poor dog. The fact that he has recovered and is still trusting of mankind shows the gentle forgiving nature of these creatures.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Tacoma brothers charged in brutal murder of teen | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather, Sports,

Having one bad seed kid could be a crapshoot - but two? Parents need to be more involved in their kids lives and raise them rather than letting them be raised by their peers and babysat by TV and video games. Do parents even teach their kids the value of human life any longer? How do some kids lives go so badly wrong? From precious babies to cold bloooded violent killers at 14 and 16. The kid in the picture is ugly from the inside out. He looks pretty cocky for someone who is looking at spending a chunk of time in the bighouse.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : 911 caller: \'He\'s crying and crying, the dad. And the baby is gone\' | Local & Regional | Seattle

I am saddened and nauseated by this story. This little girl was failed by those who were supposed to protect her. It's hard to imagine how a mother would not see the abuse of her child when she lived in the same home. I would imagine little Koralynn was terrified of this caveman - seriously - just LOOK at him - he's scary!! How would a mother go a long period of time without seeing her toddler sans clothing? Small children are bathed daily, dressed and undressed, and often need cleaning up. WIth family all around - including the father - was there no-one else who saw this child on a regular basis? Did someone playing with her not notice bruises or abrasions? Surely her demeanor would have changed, too.__The Centralia chronicle said the little girls aunt had noticed an injury on her bottom the day before she died, and told the mother. The mother asked Reeder about it and he convinced her it was a normal childhood injury. This would have been a huge red flag to most mothers - particularly in light of his insisting on caring for her. To think the mother could have done something at this point, and didn't, is something she will have to live with for the rest of her life. __

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Coroner: Centralia toddler died from head trauma, drowning | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weathe

There are no words for the rage I feel to this monster, to the child's mother and even the neighbors who heard screaming and did nothing. If the child was two, she was resumable still wearing diapers. If she had been raped, surely the mother would have seen something amiss. Did she condone this? To the neighbors who heard unusual crying - why, why, why would you not report it? If you are a parent, you can tell usually by a childs screams if he/she is fussing, hungry, or hurt. I hope this is a wake up call to anyone who turns the other cheek when they suspect a child (or adult, or pet) is being abused, to make the call. There has to be a special place in hell for this disgusting excuse for a human. RIP little girl. No more pain or suffering.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Search on for missing boy after baby found badly beaten | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather,

I agree about starting with legislature and believe me I have written MANY letters. I have been aware of a family where I suspect there is child abuse and CPS is pretty powerless to do anything at this time. I understand it isn't their fault. I Have called them lots of times about this situation. I have a friend who is a foster parent for two siblings (6 and 8) who were living with their mother in her car until she was incarcerated for drug related issues. The kids have a lot of problems - malnourished, no clothes (except what they were wearing which was too small), no toys, both wet beds, no manners or self control and they claim their mother hit and yelled at them a lot. Still they miss her. Sad thing is that when she gets out of jail she will probably get them back. At least that is what the foster mom has been told. This makes me crazy. For the first time in their lives they had a birthday party, new clothes and toys, and get a bed-time story every night. It's too bad a child has to be injured or starved before the State can legally do anything.

Hmm - wonder if the mother is the same Heather Berven with 15 cases on the Washington Courts site - if so, these poor kids have never had a chance. How are people like this able to keep their kids? I don't get it. Doesn't the state step when mom is in jail or a mental health facility? I hope the surviving kids are removed permanently, and my prayers are with both those little boys - they need them. The sad thing is the cycle will probably continue.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : \'I made a bad choice’: Boy pens apology letter to shooting victim | Local & Regional | Seattl

My heart breaks for BOTH these children. If this little boy had the loving parents Amina did, this would never have happened. With that said, I am sad that Aminas family felt to share something to private as this letter with the media. I also heard on the news that her family has said the apology is not enough. That makes me sad too. I hope they can forgive him and look at the life he has had thus far. I truly wish this little boy could be placed in a loving normal family where he can be a kid. I think Amina is going to be OK - thank goodness - but the little guy has a long road ahead of him.

What a shame those friends didn't tell their parents or teachers of this plan to bring a gun to school and run away.__This is tragic on so many levels. That a nine year old boy would feel he needed to run away and have a weapon to protect himself breaks my heart. __My heart goes out to that beautiful little girl AND to this little boy who clearly needs some help and guidance.

No no no no no no no!! Those poor children. Those poor grandparents. Could someone please tell me why this maggot was allowed to have even supervised visits with those children? He was a ticking time bomb! Did anyone stop and think about the effect the judges decision this week would have on his already twisted rationale? It's time for this State to start putting the children of seriously screwed up familes first. How many children in WA need to die at the hands of abusers before something is done? My deepest condolences to the Cox family.

What fantastic news. I am so happy for his family and friends. I am guessing this is probaby not what they thought they would hear. We had hoped maybe with his experience he was able to dig in and make a snow cave - perhaps that's what he did. Stories like this don't always have happy endings, and it's heartening to hear good news from Mt Rainier. Very emotional family and friends I bet. :-)

RIP Margaret - you will be missed in Eatonville. Even though I didn't know you in person, I saw you in the community with your family. It's hard not to get to know all the rangers at least by sight when you live in the shadow of Mt Rainier and go often to hike or take pictures. Margaret stood out because she was so cheerful and upbeat. Last spring after exchanging pleasantries my spouse remarked that there was a young lady who loved her job. I have no sympathy for the POS who took the life of this young woman who made a difference. I do hope he was scared and miserable when he died.

Yes - earlier they were saying Kernahan Road - now they are saying Barn Flats area below Paradise. It's a LONG walk out of the park from there - and I imagine he is now very cold and wet. Definitely hypothermia will set in if he does not have survival gear.
