Defense Tech : Another Creepy Cool Video: Tiny UAVs Play James Bond Theme

All it is is a gussied up quadcopter. I have one I got for $120 that will carry a camera, fly around stable in brisk winds due to internal gyros, and do acrobatics that would make an airforce pilot jealous. The guys request was worded silly, but these are hardly army research. http://www.xheli.com/quadcopters.html

KOMO - Seattle, WA : City attorney, mayor at odds over DOJ negotiations | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather, Sport

What is there to be at odds about? There are what, a dozen cell phone videos in the past couple years of police brutality on unprovoking citizens, whom prior to video releases were charged with either an assault or resisting that never actually happened? And then the PD has the audacity to illegally try and prevent the release of internal videos. If they don't need serious reform, who does?

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Horse spooked by illegal fireworks hit, killed by car | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather, Sp

Condolences to the owner. Regarding fireworks, I think we need to get invaded by China or the like, have a few million citizens taken out in the process, and then gradually and painstakingly drive them from our lands. Pretty sure fireworks of any sort would be a-okay for another hundred years at that point. Never forget.

Cheapest option is 100% transparency, and payouts out of police funding. Blaming the 'city' is kind of like blaming the government as a whole because your road has potholes. It is ONE persons fault usually, and that is the person that should be held accountable.

I personally think police should be held to a REAL double standard, as in double punishment, as they are in a position of power and assumed respect. Their word is gold in the courts and only arguable if a victim of power abuse is lucky enough for someone to catch the act on video. That doesn't mean you and I should pay someone millions of dollars for being roughed up. The civil legal system has become nothing more than a lottery for the wronged. Blacklist and fire the cop, pay any medical and lost wages PURELY out of the police funding. If that leaves them short, they better keep a better eye on their brethren.

"A lawsuit against the city of Seattle and a police officer" Here's my problem with that. "against the city of Seattle" ie: against those paying taxes. So dude gets belittled and beat up, and he's probably going to get enough money to retire 5x over, from us. That seems fair.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Snohomish Co. fixes road after deadly crash, legal action | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather

This is old, the vehicle(s) in question were excessively speeding I believe. Individual ineptitude does not warrant a payout. Thousands drive down that stretch of road every day/week without incident. Further, there are many 'unsafe' intersections/stretches of road throughout the state (and world for that matter). Many are due to natural obstructions and cannot be addressed, and common sense comes into play. If you're not familiar with a road, go slow(er), if you are familiar then follow the rules. If you don't follow the rules/limits and you get hurt, that's your fault not the roads or states. We shouldn't waste millions to fix something that isn't broken. Again maybe it COULD use improvement...or, alternatively, people could not drive stupidly and/or use caution and we could then use the money elsewhere. My truck is old and decrepit at this point and I drive accordingly. I COULD go buy a new one and have more power and 4 wheel disc brakes....or I could drive within my limits and save 30k+.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Betty White reveals her presidential preference | Entertainment | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Bre

"I do my own research.. " Googling ' f'ing illegal mexicans' and taking the bias results (most likely written by people like you with no journalistic research or actual reports to back them up) doesn't really count as 'research'. Having recently imported a WHITE canadian I can attest that the borders and those guarding them are more stringent and random than ever. I only mention her race/color as a testament that if we're suffering from bias and aggression at the border I can only imagine for others. Mexican immigration has slowed dramatically in recent months/years due to a strengthening economy on their side, and increased border patrols and presence on ours. I will grant you that it seems easier to take the ILLEGAL route, as since they are not on the books and overlooked THEY don't get harassed at random like my wife does. Beyond that, i'm sorry but white trash and the other options here would rather go on unemployment than do manual labor more often than not, and that's manual labor at a DECENT wage. People talk about how much of a drain these immigrants are on the economy, well when I got laid off and went to UI orientation all I saw were 30-50 year old white males, as illegals cannot even get such help. And last, nobodys going to pay $3 for a bag of american fruit when they can get the same type imported from Brazil for $1, but they do pay $1.50 for an american equivalent that was available due to cheaper local labor. Oh, and did you hear about the...well it was more of a stunt than a real thing, but the results were the same. They offered good field jobs to legal citizens with paid lodging and food and all that, with tens of thousands of seats available. Only 9 people seriously inquired to take them up on it. I don't remember the name of the article but it was a few years ago. Again there is a reason, most people don't want to do that kind of work, and especially this new generation of pansy's. It's only going to get worse from here out when they dominate the work force.

What the hell. How is it profiling or bias to imprison someone for something blatantly illegal? There shouldn't even be a 'detention area', there should just be a bus that leaves on schedule across the border (or plane rides for other countries). I know we wouldn't receive the same leniency in many other countries.

On the one hand I agree with the posters that lawyers saying $125 a year is a laugh. On the OTHER hand I applaud them for putting the smack down on unnecessary spending. From what is stated in here and what I've read, the Bar is for certification and policing, that's it. Not providing free legal support to the poor or whatever other philanthropic ventures they are dabbling in. I wish we as a people could do this to our govt, but they would keep all the bloat and just cut essential services like schools, police, and fire.

Most things like this can be easily absorbed if you think about it in scale. I always say that if they invented a cheap adaptation to the internal combustion engine that doubled its effiiciency, gas prices would double the same day. Oil companies will not just say "Oh, well then there goes half our profit." Same goes with the gov't. Imagine if ALL cars were electric tomorrow, there wouldn't be jack all coming in for road taxes, as most of that money does come from the tax on gas. Yes we pay many other taxes but SO much comes from gas. I too would have said the same thing as you, but when you look at the extreme you can see why they're doing it. And to all these arm chair poloticians, it doesn't matter who's in office they're all crooks. Really your only choice is, do I want to get robbed to help the needy (ie: those who don't do for themselves and live off my sweat) or do I want to get robbed to help the rich friends of those in office. Either way I'm getting robbed with nothing to show for it. I have to pay to go to parks that I already pay taxes for. I have to pay via levies for schools that I already have to pay taxes for, and now I have to pay to drive across a floating bridge that I already pay some of the highest taxes/fuel tax/etc in the COUNTRY for.
