Well they had to die at some point anyway or magic balance gets messed up again once the Mane 6 leave this world, I kinda wanted them to have some confrontation against the bastard that pulled the strings though, at least one better than "oh you were just dark god bait, do whatever you want now lol".

No really, it was that bad, the only reason why there's no huge shitstorms going on right now (or since then) is because honestly nothing can be worse than what happened there, we practically hit rock-bottom with death threats to the staff included, they'd have to actually ruin the show by removing one of the mane 6 or something to get something of a higher caliber.

The thing with Rainbow Rocks is that we already know what to expect, people who hated EG like me will either skip it and don't give a damn, or watch it and won't be surprised if it sucks, way less potential for drama-fest. Also the absecence of the drama H-bomb that was MMC and instead a pretty cool and non-polarizing season finale helps reduce tensions.

Actually MMC wasn't bad due to the alicorn stuff at the end, it was bad because so far it has been the biggest rushed mess in the entire show, and that's saying a lot considering this show's tendency to solve things too fast at season premieres/endings (sans The Best Night Ever).

Ah the "shitstorm and polarization era", not gonna lie, lost a ton of interest in the show when most of this stuff happened, and no, it wasn't because "waaaah alicorn and humans now it sucks!", but because I honestly thought S3 was kinda weak, MMC a rushed mess and EG really boring and generic.
Thank god for the comics, they managed to keep me in through the hiatus and the influx of bad news.

A two-parter that's absent of the rushjob that plagues all the show's 2-parters? I dunno every time the show throws one of these some people say that things got solved way too fast, so that wouldn't be half bad.
Then again they managed to make the EG climax rushed too so that's not a guarantee of good pacing.
