Question: How do you know if a bill is killed in committee? I saw this on thomas.loc.gov
Fear: H.R.676 - United States National Health Care Act or the Expanded and Improved Medicare for All Act (Introduced in House)
Title: To provide for comprehensive health insurance coverage for all United States residents, improved health care delivery, and for other purposes.
1/26/2009:
Referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce, and in addition to the Committees on Ways and Means, and Natural Resources, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
Referred to House Energy and Commerce
Referred to House Ways and Means
Referred to House Natural Resources

This bill proposes that “All individuals residing in the United States (including any territory of the United States) are covered under the USNHC Program entitling them to a universal, best quality standard of care. Each such individual shall receive a card with a unique number in the mail.”

1.Where does it say that illegal residents are exempt?
2.This insurance card with “a unique number” can become a national ID card.
How are they going to pay for this? I saw a bill that would place an Ad Valorem Tax on every product, service, or exchange. But, this bill taxes:
(A) Existing sources of Federal Government revenues for health care.
(B) Increasing personal income taxes on the top 5 percent income earners.
(C) Instituting a modest and progressive excise tax on payroll and self-employment income.
(D) Instituting a small tax on stock and bond transactions.

I went to the Library of Congress (http://thomas.loc.gov/home/c111query.html) looking for the health care bill (that thousand plus page bill and found:
1000 Bills from the 111th Congress ranked by relevance on "national+health+care ".
20 bills containing your phrase exactly as entered.
57 bills containing all your search words near each other in any order.
724 bills containing all your search words but not near each other.
199 bills containing one or more of your search words.

Some bills just say 'we see a problem' they don't do anything.
Some commit funds to fix a small problem.
I've read at least two that create new health care programs and create new taxes to pay for it. One of these bills even says that every one who resides in the US will enroll (that includes illegals, they only have to prove they are here long term), gives everyone a National ID card, and while it does not prohibit private doctors, it only pays for services provided by "employees" of the National Health Care System. (Employees = private companies that agree to abide by the "Law".)

Why can't they get it all together in one bill or are they trying to take the big bill and pass it piecemeal?

There is a bumper sticker down here that when looked through the eye Jeff Foxworthy's good ol' boy says it all about the brick walls ...

I DON'T CARE YOU DID IT UP NORTH!

Topic: Year Round School, when it was introduced here in SC those against it showed how it had failed else where, and only looked good for the first year or two. But, we had to try it. Parents did not like it because not all schools were on it (I had one in elementary, one in middle school and one in high school) and vacations were hard to plan between the two schedules. Let alone find a summer camp that started or stopped in time for school. After the second year teachers complained about burn-out (even some of our best teachers)
Now we finally after years of campaigning and three superintendents we have gone back to the traditional schedule.

All of the above was to say if I were to introduce fire down here they would tell me to let them invent it.

Brick Wall ... My daddy did it that way, my grand daddy did it that way, I won't change my way until I die.

Your right integrity is an important part of responsibility.
And while you can not control other people, it's also true that brick walls can not be moved. So to paraphrase the President, "Stupid" people need to be run over.

Thanks for continuing the conversation.

To all. For in my mind they are one. My values and principles rule my live, even though at times I do slip. I am only human.

In my mind the difference between right and wrong is a thin line. Whither the topic is political, ideological or religious in nature, we must start with values. The prime value is the liberty of the individual. Power seekers would limit or kill the liberty of the individual.

With liberty comes responsibility. For one man's liberty can not suppress another man's. For when it does the suppressed are no better than animals and may become an animal.

That is why societies must have laws. But when the lawmakers become the suppressor or the arm of the suppressor they must be removed.

As many of the conservative talk show host has said that Nov 2010 may be too late. Obama and Palosi will have taken us over the Socialist Hill. There are a great many that desire to give up their liberty for someone to give them all. But they give up the greatest gift of all ... Liberty. And in so doing place all others in pearl of losing their own liberty.

Again I wander off point. What values and principles do you see as first and foremost?

TooLittleTime,

Sorry to take so long in responding, the boss (my wife) kept me doing her will on the net.

In answer to your last response, I guess I was ranting like many others here.

I really like what Glenn did to start this blog, I want to get to the basics, Values and Principles. I have found that we each have two sets of each, public and private. They are rarely the same, there are small differences. Extreme example: politicians.

Values and Principles direct what a person says and does. So, I hope to learn what the social norm is and move it in a direction that is best for the nation.

So my first question: Is there a fine line between right and wrong, or is there a large gray area?

Next what is the basis for this line (wide or narrow)? For a nation founded on Judeo-Christian values, which many other religions believe in, I would think we would like the Ten Commandments in the courts.

So, as we blog let us think about the values that guide our comments.

You could be right, but I think the CEO of BCC was spring loaded to jump on the race button.
It is a minority of my black brothers (I know that I am white, but we are all children of Heavenly Father and therefore brothers) that wave the race flag at a drop of the hat, but they are so vocal that they "enslave" me. I never enslave a person and as far as I can find out neither has any of my ancestors. The blacks have had a generation to catch up with the "poor white trash". I am not rich and neither are any of my kin, but myself and my kids are working to improve our lot in life.

I was going to comment on how our President opens moth before engaging brain (Quote - I don't have all the facts ...), but, now that I hear he has outstanding tickets I think I can not only not pay my taxes, but I can lie cheat and steal. But, wait, could this prove that he is an illegal alien? After all only illegals can do what they want and get away with it.
