The FN Dish : Chatting With the Latest Next Iron Chef: Redemption Exile

She left the show and the network. She has a new show on another network (A&E, I think).

Are there any women Iron Chefs? I thought Chef Cora left the series and was now on a different network.

You expressed my thoughts exactly. I was discouraged last week when they did not eliminate both chefs for plating a single dish in the elimination challenge. (And I'm a fan of Spike.) This was totally disgusting and STAGED! I turned the channel as soon as they announced who was safe. I will never watch the Next Iron Chef again - nor will I watch Iron Chef. The Food Network has stooped way too low.

Star Talk : Watch the Pilots and Vote!

What a fraud! The contestants (and the viewers) are told only three pilots will be made - yet there are four pilots. We are told all season that the viewers will be allowed to vote on who will win - yet we are now told that only those viewers with Facebook accounts will be allowed to vote. And the person, Ippy, I most wanted to see and learn from (like Whitney last year) is not in the finals. The only one left whom I would watch is Justin.

Star Talk : Sandwich King

I agree with you completely about Mary Beth. The sweet and innocent act only lasted two weeks with me. You hit the nail on the head with the "academic superiority" comment. Funny thing, Whitney is far more intelligent, yet she never talked down to anyone. She maintained composure and class throughout the competition - and should have won.

My only real problem with Jeff is that he doesn't make his own bread. By using store-bought bread, he is simply a sandwich maker. If he truly wants to be the Sandwich King, then he needs to start with homemade breads. I agree with your comments about Mama's Boy - how lame and wimpy.

I am done with the show this season. FN has made it clear where they stand. Mary Beth has limited cooking skills and babbled like an idiot tonight. How could they possibly decide to put her into the final 4? Whitney is beautiful, poised, talented, and intelligent. She is everything I want in a cooking instructor. She produces great food, provides excellent instruction on how to duplicate it, and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, doesn't find it necessary to hit viewers over the head with fake, melodramatic stories.

Star Talk : Penny for Your Thoughts

I completely agree with your comments on Whitney. Tonight was a prime example. Her performance on the Rachel Ray show was excellent. Her food was great. Her interaction with the audience was wonderful. But, the win went to Jeff for being the class clown. Out of the remaining contestants, Whitney is the one who most excites me with her knowledge of cooking and her on-screen performance.

Well said, ShoeBox. I think the next one eliminated should be Grant. He clearly does not know what FN viewers want to see - good cooking ideas from likeable people.

Star Talk : Melissa's Finalist Pep Talks

I totally agree with your comments on Penny. I will never watch a show with her. However, the same things were said about Antonio when he competed for Design Star on HGTV. And they rewarded him with the title and a show. (I'm proud to say I have never watched it - and boycotted the network for over 8 months.) If I'm not mistaken, both networks are owned by the same company. My fear is that Food Network has decided it needs someone with no class to shake things up as well. I hope not!

I agree with you in all regards, except your comment about Whitney. Whitney is beautiful, intelligent, and a great chef. Those qualities alone would make me watch her show. Her so-called lack of personality is not a problem for me. After all, Giada has very little personality during her show, but I find it quite educational. I don't think it is necessary to present a fake persona to host a cooking show. Sweetness and politeness can go a long way as long as you can back it up with quality food.

If you are unemployed through no fault of your own, then I am sorry. However, Tom is not unemployed through no fault of his own. His quit his job without first finding a new job. He chose to move across country to the most expensive city in the country without first finding a new job. This is irresponsible behavior in this economy or in any economy. That is why I cannot see him in a leadership role hosting his own show.

I cannot understand how the judges are so high on Tom. I would never watch a show with him. He is neither funny nor entertaining. I have a problem taking advice from someone who doesn't have a job - and acts like it is funny that he is a slacker. I would watch a show with any of the other four finalists. It was a big mistake to send Brad home tonight.

Wow. It looks like I hit a nerve. You talk a good game about being all polite and well educaed. That is until someone calls you on propogating lies and hatred toward other posters. Your attack on me - in the first place - was totally uncalled for. And your own nastiness is now surfacing full force. Every one knows the definition of a semi-finalist. You and mancave simply choose to twist it to meet your own ends. And when you are called on it, you flip out and spew rudeness and hatred - while accusing me of doing so. The funny thing, PaintyKat, is that my conversation with mancave ended 2 days ago and you still continue to come back with 3 page tirades directed at me. Obviously, mancave was not offended by me; we simply disagree.

And who are you? Mancave's wife? My comments are not rude; they are blunt. And they are no more blunt than Mancave's comments toward me - both in this thread and in several others. You are the one who is being rude in your comment to me. I know about Dan's audition for last year's show because I choose to educate myself by reading multiple blogs on this show, not just trusting the first one which tells me what I wanted to use to discredit a contestant. Perhaps you should give it a rest and stop embarrassing yourself by sticking your nose in a conversation that does not pertain to you. I said nothing different from what mowgo said (and you thanked him for the information) except that I called Mancave on his need to twist the facts to make Dan look bad.
