Thanks Arthur for the comment, I checked the link you posted and I absolutely enjoyed the article on the adoption of social media by the gaming industry. While this particular article focused on the commercial and the branding, your comment really made me realize that the Blur marketing campaign didn't really put much effort into social media as a marketing channel, but their integration with social media in the context of the game is a brilliant move.... made possible with Xbox Live's own integration with twitter and facebook. Again, thanks for your comment and the link, it was a great read!

Thanks for the feedback Raggedyman, it's my first "official" podcast and while we're still working out the technical kinks, we're "failing upwards"... to make it better and better for our listeners. We're planning on an every other week schedule, it's pretty aggressive, but I think that we'll be able to do it. Once we get some of the tech issues worked out, we're going to start adding interviews of interesting people in the gaming sphere at the end. Well, they've actually changed the position on the PS3 controllers to make them a bit more finger-friendly. other than that, I fully admit that my admiration of the product is a sheer attraction to shiny things :) That, and after buying several PDP products, they consistently do a great job on their peripherals.

After watching the video a few times, I gotta disagree with you Shawn, the Gears trailer franchise has always done a highly contrasted and haunting soundtrack... Mad World for Gears 1, How it Ends for Gears 2. To switch from that motif now would throw the theme off and I'd think generally lessen the emotional impact of the trailer is it was some random growly hard-core song.

Actually, they're selling more PS3's right now (partially because of the price drop, and the slightly better PS3 slim) but I think their new marketing campaign is doing a lot to give gamers and non-PS3 fanboys warm fuzzies when they think of the Playstation. So, I'm sure the new marketing has something to do with it, but there are still some really hard feelings left over as Sony continues to make weird, consumer-unfriendly steps towards people who want to buy it. and yes... "... with a stick" made me laugh out loud.
