Yeah, but the Child Rights Campaign to ratify the UN's CRC thinks they can use make the CRC seem benign. However, the fact that they feel the need to respond to the Constitutional lawyers who run ParentalRights.org helps show that our fears are legitimate. There is simply no reason to give away our ability to make decisions about parents and kids to international tribunals. Once the power is out of our control, they can do whatever they want.

Did everyone see the latest update on ParentalRights.org? They have a series responding to the "Myths" that the UN's Convention on the Rights of the Child ratification campaign in the U.S. puts forward to try and convince people that the UN's CRC is harmless.

I agreee. Realistically, politics is inherently defensive. Even if we can't achieve the ideal (I'd be concerned if we thought we could--only materialist philosophies like Marxism purport to have the complete solution for the perfect society), we can mitigate culture and government to the point where it remains relatively reasonable. History shows us what can happen with totalitarian governments, and I for one do not support such centralization.

Good governments emerge only when people stop trying to create utopias.

That's exactly what "they" want you to do. They want all their opposition to withdraw from society so they don't have to deal with competing elements of power. Then, after they subdue the majority of society under their influence, they will come after everyone else in hiding.

If the principles minority retreats, it just gives the opposition more time to surround them.

This was rather shocking. Courts may deny Michael Jackson's wife of her biological children and give them to the children's gransmother. This news articles says they her parental rights could be denied even if Michael Jackson said in his will that he wants his wife to retain custody of the kids. Kind of scary that the government has that much power to decide, even for a pop icon, to take kids away from their parents.

The Parental Rights Constitutional Amendment has 105 cosponsors in Congress! Is your Congressman a cosponsor? You can check the list at this website: http://www.parentalrights.org/index.asp?Type=B_BA...

Also, Senator Demint just introduced the Senate version--SJRes 16.

Anyone see this? The Supreme Court just overturned the firefighter case, and it turns out that Sotomayor, Obama's SCT nominee, was one of the judges who ruled against the firemen in a lower court.

I just saw this on LA times--Susan Rice just said that the Obama admin wants to join the "global rights of child pact." They want to ratify the UN convention on the rights of the child. They seem to getting serious about this!

You have a good point. The interesting thing about conservative principles is that even though they can be expounded eloquently by good leaders, they are also latent within society in general, even start there. It is the liberal ideas that are usually found primarily in an "elite" that is disconnected from real American culture.

The UN Human Rights Committe in Geneva also just announced a new "protocal" for the UNCRC that lets kids file legal complaints in an international court for possible violations of the UNCRC. This is pretty big news--it would take control right out of the hands of parents and even our own American lawmakers! You can see the article at this link: http://www.parentalrights.org/index.asp?Type=B_BA...
