The acting, if not top notch, deserves at least a B or B+. The action sequences are solid, even compelling at times, and the cinemetography is really good. I think I caught some of the real reasons the far-left hates this film (in addition to the overall tone of the film, as has already been discussed). There's a brief shot of a helicopter pilot's helmet with "In God We Trust" written on it. There's a potshot at child rapist/Hollywood Saint Roman Polanski. The bad guy doesn't turn out to be an evil Oil Billionaire, a Republican Senator, or even George W. Bush (as little sense as digs at President Bush make at this point in time, I'm sure the far left still expects them in pretty much any movie they view - Act of Valor, Safe House, The Smurfs - doesn't matter...). I could go on, but I'm sure that to the far left, these are "3 strikes" against the film, never mind that they represent a Home Run to many viewers.
