The problem is that Remain are angling to have the referendum nullified because of the Battle Bus slogan. "Brexit was based on lies !" they say, "There is clamour for a second referendum." There isn't. The general election only a few weeks back saw the LibDems (the only party offering a second referendum) lose seats and key members. Now Remain grasp at straws and quote a few recent polls. Will they never give up ?

It's not a 'status quo'. The country has been changed immeasurably by the EU in the last decade and our children have already gone off an economic cliff edge - long before the referendum. Not one Remainer argued the destination of the EU - they just gave us Project Fear about upsetting the 'status quo' where all we see, in fact, is rapid and unsettling change.

Bank of Mum and Dad (a phrase coined before the referendum) was not meant to be a survival fund for children unable to afford rent or mortgages because of wage compression and increased demand for housing.

There isn't. The general election only a few weeks back saw the LibDems (the only party offering a second referendum) lose seats and key members. The Battle Bus wasn't anywhere in sight. Now Remain ignore the general election and quote a few obscure polls. Will they never give up ?
And if Miller/Sugar are insistant that Brexit 'liars' are prosecuted then I suggest Blair gets tried first. In what way could they possibly object ? After all, Remainers Blair and Cameron caused Brexit after simultaneously opening borders at home whilst causing a refugee crisis abroad.
Let's not be too selective about who gets prosecuted for telling lies, eh ?

Apropos of Dan Hannan's article:

The only way the Left's attitude is to the back bench Conservatives' advantage is that it has caused a backlash. Hitherto the only tactical measure that the Conservatives had taken from these covert observations was to immitate the Left and do battle for the 'centre' ground. So when the Conservatives 'win' an election they rule within parameters defined by the Left and they more resemble the Liberal Party of old. Thus the Left were able to have their coup and their operating machinery (including the BBC) still remains intact, even with Conservative (so-called) Governments.

Most Tories are Remainers - so they will not see recent events as their advantage. They will be just as likely to admonish Brexiters in public.

The public rebellion is actually against the failure to supply true conservatism - not against Leftism, except for its agents who made much that is conservative taboo through Political Correctness (a side issue.) When there are no viable alternatives we end with oversteer in the form of Trump and Brexit. Both the USA and Britain are countries with a majority for conservatism but no party to represent it.

The anger of the Politically Correct is an unexpected gratifying Brucie Bonus.

This is no time for Tory complacency.

You need to see a doctor, Newmania. (I'm serious. Actually I know you PN, and your town.) Your rantings are no longer fun or deadly accurate like they used to be. They are often way off the mark and sound beyond angry. I'm sure Brexit has brought pressures in your line of work (the 'I' industry) It is difficult to sift the sensible from the outright demented of your views - worst of all, you're not actually doing your worthy cause any good at all.

Clearly the British people are not racist - otherwise we wouldn't have record numbers of migrants coming to Britain and telling us they have chosen our country because of our good nature. One thing we have never ever been thanked nor praised for is our ability to make multi-culturalism work. There are far more inter-racial births among Labour Brexiter Debby Thompson's class than Remainer Emma Thompson's !

Best wishes.

It's easy to work out how many Brexit voters are BNP oriented. Simply deduct their lost party membership from the 17.5 million votes for Leave. So insignificant as to be as pointless an exercise as reading the rest of Newmania's tedious post (which I didn't bother to do.)

I find, for example, that Remainers feel confident to opine loudly on public transport and assume that most people think the same or, at least, that they will suffer no approbrium for their comments. As one who voted Leave the idea of voicing my opinion in public is unthinkable. I would fully expect aggression towards me.
