Something is TOTALLY WRONG with the 'system' if he only gets 48 months.... It's 'MURDER" ! As it was wrong (2010) when a woman who killed motorcyclist while painting her nails only got 18 months.... Where is the 'accountability' for our actions?

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Troopers find fatally injured motorcyclist lying along Hwy. 99 | Local & Regional | Seattle News, We

RIP! With the micro-climates here in WA -few (if any) really know what happened, why, and what the rider's choices/options were. As a year-round rider (with "some" limits) I've ridden in snow -stupid choice; I ride even when it's 'well below freezing' and 'dry'.) My ride... My responsibility... MY CHOICE. To correct earlier comments, WA does not 'require' insurance for bikes yet, * most financial/creditors do, AND (you need to know) WA does require financial responsibility. With any responsibility for/in a crash -you owe $$$. You can be required to post a $60k bond to cover your crash. You can also be hit with an SR-22 for a long time.... Insurance -way cheaper. But... as with everything we all have choices....

Really? A "rumble strip" and then over-correction to launch the vehicle into the barrier? WTF? When do people take responsibility for their own driving, attention, and responsibility for safety? Oh... and I bet there was a "BABY ON BOARD" sticker on the back. I truly hope the child recovers... SAD.

As a 'state employee' who works (consistently) 50, 60, 70, and sometimes 80+ hr weeks (salaried .... meaning NO overtime or compensation for 'volunteer' time), there are a lot of us state workers who care... and work our butts off... for ALL OF YOU -The Public. We get a pay cut this year... with more work-load... and less benefits... We get all the cranky/nasty calls and emails because not everything can get done -that The Public expects and demands. Yes, I have a job. Yes, I'm thankful. YES, I do this simply because I believe in 'what I do' and more importantly 'why'....

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Motorcyclist slides on metal grating, slams into car | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News

In WA, insurance for motorcycle isn't required! (That may be what you're hinting at.) However, in WA, "financial responsibility" is. So, without insurance the rider (if at fault) is personally responsible for costs....... This could be HUGE! (Most folks aren't aware of the WA Financial Responsibility law.)

Hope the rider recovers quickly -and gets back riding... (WTF with damage $$$ ??? Really???) True, metal gratings (and most other 'special surfaces': ice, moss, algae, fallen leaves, gravel, sand, etc. etc. etc.) can offer instant traction loss. However, it isn't always an issue. Most of the time, by not changing speed or direction (i.e. roll-on, roll-off, or any steering/counter-steering input) the rider can coast through... In rider-training courses, it's taught that these 'special surfaces' can easily be ridden on -IF noticed first. (Color change and/or texture change are the rider's clues.) Any sudden (or dramatic) roll-off (or roll-on of throttle) can significantly change the suspension and handling characteristics. (Thus, sliding a bike into another lane.) I truly hope the rider is OK..... and gets better soon....

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Sisters hit street to help raise pride flag over Space Needle | Community Spirit | Queen Anne News

Interesting -last thought- it may help everyone to understand why this issue would be so important to The Sisters... it was one of the Sisters who created the Pride Flag! Yeah... it's 'important' in a lot of ways.... And... bigger picture, if someone -or some group- doesn't speak 'out' for the benefit of others... eventually no one will give a damn about anything. Each of you have priorities, concerns, and beliefs. So we do too. Our's is simple... EQUALITY. @7anyaToast -Thank you!

Act "normal"? That is exactly what the Sisters don't want to do... They are a celebration of "IT'S OK TO BE YOURSELF". The white-face (mask) honors the death of all the folks who have passed from HIV/AIDS as well as a 'clown face' to help remind everyone to not take yourselves so seriously. The "Sisters" aspect is a celebration of nuns:who they are and what they do. The outfits are designed to spark/engage in conversation and celebrate LIFE. It always amazes me to how judgmental and hateful so many people are... The Sisters try to help others and support the community. Do YOU?

Any 'raceway', any 'curve', is only as dangerous as 'we' make it! I know a bunch of the racers out there... hope he's ok...... It's a fine-line to ride.... FAST to improve... SLOW enough to 'maintain' and 'survive'. As a rider, the risk is OURS... and OURS alone to manage. Technique and training -help. However, it's our ability to manage ourselves, our risks, and riding within our abilities -that saves our lives.

When the Nazis came for the communists, I remained silent; I was not a communist. Then they locked up the social democrats, I remained silent; I was not a social democrat. Then they came for the trade unionists, I did not protest; I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, I did not speak out; I was not a Jew. When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me. We MUST speak out.... as HATE is a 'learned' value.

Maybe... maybe not. Depends on the incident. The fatals show YES. (illegal passing, speeding, and/or alcohol.) Crashes -show differently. Most fatals in our state, are caused by errors (stupidity or ignorance) of the rider. Go to EndorseYourSport.com and read the report. It's stunning. It's US that is killing ourselves.

And, just about ALWAYS there are factors that the motorcyclist could have managed to minimize the risk. (Seeming most motorcycle fatals in WA are caused BY the motorcyclist -this appears to fit the bill.) Sad. But true. And ( Not A Native ) it is almost always the motorcyclists fault. As a motorcyclist... I know. I ride (just about) every day. It's risky. With awareness, patience, control and training -it doesn't have to be suicidal.
