GazetteOnline.com : Pomeranz compensation deal much sweeter than Prosser's

After they crucified Prosser it probably took that much to try and get someone who is competent. After they ran Prosser off most sensible managers said no thanks!

Yes, but the only places that sell gasoline overnight are the c-stores. And yes, people need to buy gas during the night hours. There are only 15 or so open all night in CR, Marion, and Hiawatha. None of the Hy-Vee Drugs are open all night. Three Wal-Marts, two Walgreens, and 5, I think, of the Hy-Vee foods are open.

Yes, there are lots of people out and about in this town from 11-2. People getting off second shift as an example--factories still work around the clock as do hospitals, police, ambulance etc. From 2-4 it quiets down and then at 4 it starts building up as people begin their day. So yes, there need to be c-stores open all night. The question is--should they have 2 clerks? Caseys is the only one that has stores open overnight that always has 2 clerks in the store. Kwik Shop and Road Ranger do not. Although RR at 15th and 1st Avenue East does have a security guard overnight.

I wonder about his kid--SR at Ames and signed with UNI. He is a pretty decent player. Played better than Barnes in their 2nd win in the state tourney. Will he follow dad or compete against dad for 4 years? Just looked at another site and he has been released from his letter and going with dad to Creighton.

GazetteOnline.com : My guess: Big Ten will go East or South (Bend), not both

Supposedly Cowherd said this am that it will be UConn. I am with mission010 Miss, Rutgers and UConn really bring nothing to the table--except in women's BB and some years mens BB. In football UConn and Rutgers give most of the rest of the B-10 a new easy win most years. Missouri would give some B10 teams a challenge. But in the rest of the sports the B10 should easily handle all three!!! If they choose any of those--then it becomes an unabashed money grab! The NY TV market and a title game! If the B10 adds someone who would add to the competition that would be one thing--but those three simply add very little! Nothing is gained from those three overall.

GazetteOnline.com : What is your best-case Big Ten expansion scenario?

Do you want a school or schools that can compete across the board in most sports? If so Louisville is the best choice--other than Texas, Texas A & M, NE, and ND. They have a better all around program (according to Director Cup standings) than Missouri and all the "east" programs. Lousiville is 32nd overall and Pitt and Rutgers are in the 90's. Plus, Lousiville football is probably going to improve in the next few years. If the Big Ten wants schools that compete on the fields and in the classrooms--they need to look at raiding the other big conferences east of the Mississippi and go for North Carolina, Duke, Virginia, and Florida to name a few. All are among the best in the country athletically and all are AAU members. Nebraska, Texas and Texas A & M would also fit that bill from the Big 12. The ultimate question is--will the expansion cause dominoes to fall resulting in major realignments and 4 or 5 super-conferences? Which then would lead to an actual playoff?

Growing up in north Florida it was clearly understood--football was the most important sport. Spring football was the second most important! LOL Then came track--because it prepared you for football :) I am disappointed that only 51K showed up in the Swamp--got to work on that attendance! Some Nole fans think they had more like 25-30 rather than 50K.
