I want to understand people by the end of the course. I always wondered what and why people are the way they are. People are different between ethnicities and races. I don’t know what makes them a part of each group. I want to understand what makes people tick and how they think. I don’t understand why some people are certain ways tured other people and it makes no sense but maybe that could be me if I grew up in that persons situation. I also want to know why people had slavery through out the worlds history. At all points in time of history slavery was happening and someone had to of thought of slavery and the ethics and beliefs behind it. How would someone just come up with a different person is inferior to this person simply based off of a couple attributes. I also want to understand people. The way they talk walk think and react. people that I have seen in my life are a certain way that’s different than black people. Im not saying either group is better simply different. The way people think and their mentality is completely different than other peoples and im talking on a general basis there’s people that do and don’t follow the typical ways of each culture but some people I feel like they confuse me I don’t understand how they think. I don’t know why race is a barrier in the year 2000 like this is when cancer is getting cured and everything else were building crazy stuff techonology is booming people cant keep up to date with the latest software and it’s crazy racism still exists to this day. At all points in time of history slavery was happening and someone had to of thought of slavery and the ethics and beliefs behind it I cant believe how you come up with that. How would someone just come up with a different person is inferior to this person simply based off of a couple attributes on the body of another person. People are different between ethnicities and races. I want to understand what makes people tick and how they think generally. Another thing is how did minority people end up the way history was. Why did the majority get to standardize everything such as beauty the way people talk walk and think. I don’t understand race that well and why we take it into account for nearly every transaction between people. Another thing I want to know is where did the idea of racism start and who came up with it and why and which country they were from. I don’t know why people are the way they are I just want ot know how to deal with people and better everyone.

I think fear is a thing that no one really wants to talk about but it is so important to the inner making of a person you never know who is scared and what they are scared of. But I agree fear is what drives people and makes them active we are all going to school so that we can get a job and if we were not scared of not getting a job we would not be in school for the most part I mean it would be good to go just for the education but other than getting a job there is literally no point in going in to school were all here competing for the top percent of the class so we can go to grad school trying to get into the best grad school possible or maby were going to go get a job after school and I really don’t blame people who are six teen years of education is long enough for any occupation but for the over achievers it is grad school and maby not even for the over achievers but just for the people who are competing for limited positions were all fear something and that is what drives us but it seems like this guy fears everything the list was so long and about the little things as well as the big thigns and the thigns that he could not control like it is obvious we all go to sleep fearing not waking up but it is not like we can all do anything more than we already are to wake up and we can not be scared of little things that we can not control especially the ones where we been doing it since we are alive why all a suden start worrying about it just fall asleep but we all live in a world were fear is everywhere from the cities to the rual areas there is bears in the country and guns in the city we just got to live and keep living even though some things can be scary and we can not focuse on them we just got to keep going

I think in one that the rich are super rich and they will on be getting richer. They suck the money from all of the rest of people. They normally do not even care about how the economy or other people are doing. Just like the enron scandal a couple people that were high ranking inside of the company just pretty much lied to the rest of the people in the company took their own shares and wasted many jobs and reitrement savings. Then there is martha stewart who also put her insider knowledge to work when she got caught in the stock exchange people who are rich typically are their because of sociological strings and they are not aware of it and the poor people will stay poor there is nothing more to discuss it is what it is and nothing is going ot change about the lovely unfair world we all live in, know of, and love. And I was reading some ones post saying life is not fair like It or not and that is completely true there is people who are rich and they did many different unethical and illegal things to get where they are today and they probably even killed people but what about the many different hard working people who get fired and who are fathers who had kids of 9 and they went to college and their in debt but the rich guy is not getting into toruble but the poor guy who worked hard his whole life and just gets fired or the kid who prayed every night but he was walking down the street and gets hit by a bus it is tough and you can only expect the worse to happen I wish it would not work this way but it does I can think of many dfiferent situations where the good guy who has nothing but good deeds but at the end of the night he gets screwed over while the bad guy who just lies and cheats his way to the top gets to not only stay there but keep rising and it is completely wrong and I wish I could change it but I cant

I think that if two people that are good people want to raise a person together they should just go for it. If they can raise a family right then its whatever we can not tell another person they can not raise another family. If they are gay together and they want a family it would be okay. Who are we as a society to tell another persno they cant not have another child with two mothers. Two fathers is a wired thing though it might be a little weird for a child to have two fathers I feel like if they have two fathers it could really mess with the kids thoughts but I really dont know so it could be false or true but then again I am not voting to support or deny same sex people to have children I wouldn't want to have two fathers personally though maby it would be different if I actually had two fathers though. But then again what about all the children who have only one parent or switch houses once a week living on and off with each of their parents knowing that each of their parents hate each other or even in a good case I feel like the two parents are atleast friendly towards each other but when they are not it could leave the child in a potentioally weird position picking one side being the mother or the father and then it leaves a whole family apart during all the different seasons such as chirstmas and all having family going against themselves but then again I wouldnt want theat so theirs so many different sitiuation within a house where it could possibly be worse having drug addict mother and fathers who dont even care about their sons and daughters not picking them up when they suppose to be picked up from different sporting events and friends houses but then theirs the abusive parents who just beat hteir kids senseless and throw hteir kids in the trash such as seen on jerry springer they have showed some of the most disastrous families moms sleeping with sons and fathers sleeping with daughters 18 and older and then their the grandfathers making his own grandkids and everythign else they almost make it seem like any family tie could be made with two willing people who knows though

when i read that poem the questions i ask myself are like why does he think he is in hell all because he is cold? why does he say in hell everyone around u has a bad soul...? because thats not true at all because i know people that mess up all the time like i know people that could probably go kill someone today and be the nicest person yeah their heats and souls are kinda bad but not all the time because them same people will be the ones you will see in church or will see opening a door for an old person and the same person you will see having kids and loving them and playing with them and caring for them. So i guess where i'm really getting at is that not everyone that goes to hell(if there even is a hell) are always rude and always doing horrible things and always hurting people maybe they just had that one fault. And when he says being numb? and cold? why is he numb and cold when hell is suppose to be a fiery pit? like you always here people saying, "go to hell and burn in a fiery pit" you know that saying? yeah. well if hell is this big fiery pit than there is no way your feeling numb and cold like i would understand the poem more if it was about fire but not being numb and cold.i don't know i really did kind of relate to this story though because there is a lot of girls at my school that are really weird and talking about being numb and stuff so i kinda have heard it all before but at the same time its still kinda weird. Even more when he is saying he is cold in hell ? that makes no sense what so ever to me I don't know I liked this story but i'm still kind of iffy with it I think if I read it a couple of times ill understand it more but i'm not sure.. overall it was an okay story

well i kept reading this and i didn’t quiet get what he was talking about and what he was saying because it doesn’t really make sense to me until i got to the end and i understood that it was saying that he has all these people all over the world that he is kinda with and then thats where he gets the whole and that is who he is because did u ever hear the saying who u hang around u become like them? well i have and in the case im pretty sure thats what he is talking about. i don’t really understand the part where he goes to get a doughnut and the guy ask him where he is from and he says brooklyn and then the guy says know are you indian? i didn’t get that part what so ever...and then when he goes and meets his girls parents i don’t really understand why there was tension in the room is it because of his race or is it because who he is does he have a background? but then it kinda made the story when at the end he got up to leave and his girls dad was like come again for supper i thought that was nice of him...actually really nice i like story’s that explain there background and stuff like i like Malcolm x books they are really nice this one you kind of had to read this twice to really get the whole meaning of it  its not one of them ones where you can read through it once and rush u actually have to take your time and read it slowly not rushing but overall i liked this poem but if i understood it more i think i would have liked it better

when i first read the article heading about 90 girls being pregnant at one school honestly i was just like "wow". because if you really think about either the teenagers at that school just don't care or they had some kind of pregnancy pact, because it cant possibly be possible that 90 girls in the school are pregnant all in one year of school. honestly i just feel the parents are not doing their job or the girls just want to get pregnant because they think its cool. Lately i feel like girls (teenagers) are just watching stuff like MTV teen-mom and think either its cool to have a babies or just want to be like the girls on teen-mom. In reality though there are some girls out there that don't really have anyone and want to have a baby just for the comfort and love of their baby. And that's sad that people are like that because if you think about it most of these girls don't have good families and cant really afford a baby! you see girls all the time that are walking around with baby's acting like its a toy or something but reality is NO its not just a toy or a possession it your kid that you going to have to support for ever and raise. And i don't believe in abortion because that's just wrong you don't give up a kids life so the only solution for this growth in teenage pregnancy to settle down is for their parents to be more strict or if they wanna be sexually active to get some kind of birth control method. Overall i feel that this rise in teenage pregnancy is defiantly foolishness and irresponsibility and shouldn't be this high there are ways to handle stuff like this.

Wow being in jail from the time your 15 till your 51. That is so long for something you did when your 15. He is still getting punished for something that he did when he was a minor. When he was fifteen he did not have a full developed brain yet and would make some dumb irrational decisions in the spur of the moment. Im not excusing his actions but rather explaining them. He should not be in jail for something he did when he was 15. And to sentence a 15 year old to jail for life is rather tough. When your fifteen your probably not realizing whats happening when the judge says you got life in jail. Most 15 year olds do not have a sense of time. Thats why theirs a juvenile law thats separate from adult law. But anyhow every knows how the family is hurt. You will see them on the stand in court cussing out the offender and crying for their loss. But it is true you never hear any of them come back on the TV saying yeah we met with the killer and now we have closure and feel better. While I believe most of them do actually care about the people they hurt and feel remorseful and do apologize to the victims close knit of people and family. The media portrays them as a type of person with no conscience and feelings. And in the story he was saying how the family members actually genuinely forgave him for killing one of their family members is interesting. Having someone who took one of your loved ones away maybe a future father and grandfather maybe some ones son and you forgive the killer and shake hands. Thats crazy if someone killed one of my family members or close friends I don’t think I could ever forgive him or shake his hand. It would be over for that guy I would hope to worst for him and for him to get whats deserved. But I feel as if the media is the main source people get their news from. And the media is the people who are making the news seem the way it does. Now a days you can pick up the newspaper and read about some type of war or fighting somewhere in the world everyday. I think a lot of people think the worlds really worse now than what it was while really if more than 10 people are dying by unnaturally means it is going to make the new york times. I just feel like the media blow the news out of proportion.

Its just like wow. You always hear how long people been in jail but for people who have never been to jail or in jail I do not think we as a group of people understand really how long a certain time in jail is. When you wake up do all your daily activities fall asleep and do that over and over again I think its a whole different view on how a certain time is in jail. When people say two years in jail its just like oh you will miss christmas twice and you will be out. When its really my first day my second day all the holidays from valentines to spring break when they want to talk to their loved ones and family members and any other time they feel lonley and not have anyone to talk to. I believe time has a different sense to a person who is actually in jail especially the people who is having the rough and tough times. Then you really think about how easy it is to land yourself in jail a few emotions bad timing and placement and a person who you have differences with. I think its real easy to land yourself into jail. Also for the people out of jail you never realize how much you had and what it feels like to loose it. When your out of jail people could take things for granted. My family is here today and they were their yesterday so you keep saying that looking towards your family as a given thing that you never really paid attention to or been thankful for. And the things you loose such as relationships would be horrific. Not hearing from anyone that you knew of outside of jail other than your mother for many years. That would really be something to think about while in jail wondering what everyone else is doing while your waisting time in jail. And some people more than others would really miss those connections. Feeling like they lost their place in society. Feeling like an outcast to all people they knew other than their mother. But one thing it showed me is the love of a mother is unbreakable they have some type of glue thats attached to their child that cant be undone.

Well…as a sociologist I feel inclined to tell you that theirs people out there that cares about you. When you end your life its ended and there’s no coming back. You’re killing yourself and are going somewhere you’re not even sure of. What if even though your life’s bad right now what if after you killed yourself it gets worse? The grass on the other side might not be as green as you’d think. And also I’d ask them why they want to die. If it’s economic reasons id tell them nothings permanent. You still could become the person you want to become and have the things you want. And in Chinese culture it may be true that having a job is pretty much your lively hood but it’s still not the end. You could travel to a place where they are in need of the type of work that your area doesn’t need. It’s nice that there’s a phone number to call for the people who are prospecting to kill themselves. The numbers of lives they save yearly are probably mind blowing. But it’s interesting how a significant number of people go to the same woods to kill themselves. There are no big parties on the way out its just they walk into this creepy forest and kill themselves. Why don’t they at least go out doing something they would enjoy doing or something risky to where they could die but it would be cooler if they lived? Or at least max every credit card out and live like a king for a while and then go, but it’s just pointless to end your life with no plans or anything, I wonder why they kill themselves rather than a number of different things or bare minimum let themselves loose. And letting loose I mean they just do whatever they want and not even care about the world; maybe become a hobo or a train hopper. I’m not condoning letting themselves loose but at least you’ll have a life if you ever change your mind. Or even volunteer in the army join the front lines and at least die for some type of reason or purpose in a socially honorable way. To me it’s pointless to kill yourself you have one life and you wanting it to end makes no sense. Life is a long bumpy road but you don’t suppose to end it when things get tough. If you never struggled you wouldn’t appreciate the times you’re not struggling. In general everyone’s lives are valuable and nobody should die on purposely.
