ProPrint site : PMP\'s turnaround toasted with Australia\'s "most prestigious" HR Award

Richard is a stand out performer in this industry. He deserves our praise. By the way, I don't work for PMP or do work for them. The next industry function should have Richard and Anstice explaining what it takes to make money in this industry. I only hope BS and GONE attend the seminar. Credit where credit is due

Stop picking on him! It's obvious he's an intelligent, thoughtful Gentleman. I should know, I'm currently in negotiations to sell him the Westgate bridge.

ProPrint site : Paper merchants raise prices amid "economic maelstrom"

I think we. All agree price rises are good for the industry, especially considering BS and GONE will get slugged harder than anyone else and not even know. It happened when the envelope market had a shakeup and will happen again with the paper price rises coming through.

ProPrint site : Opus swoops on McPhersons Printing

I can't quite get my head around this deal. Agreed Cliff and the guys at Opus are switched on, charismatic and enthusiastic about their business. Also I understand that the vendors who "sold" into OPUS were given predominantly (illiquid) equity in the new vehicle, logic being that one day they would float and they could all sell on market for a tidy profit. I don't think the investment community is in the mood to be marking up book printing businesses at the moment. I may be wrong, but let's see.

ProPrint site : Geon and Amcor succeed at Coke\'s "Supplier of the Year" awards

I don't want to be the one defending GONE here, but client awards like this mean something. In my opinion, the 'industry awards' mean nothing. PICA, print awards, Heidelberg awards, blah blah blah, all a waste of time. Just an excuse to get drunk and talk over the guest speakers. If I was GONE I would be telling every potential client, I had just won whatever award it was that coke gave them (even if it was the award for the lowest price). Run a poll Mr Proprint....... 'Which will increase business more, an industry award or a client award'. Anyone who thinks an industry award means anything but free beers at the after party is a fool. An award like this from a client is a good marketing tool. Now someone give me a good stiff upper cut for saying nice things about GONE.

ProPrint site : Victorian printers score face time with buyers of government\'s $15m spend

We all know the Government are not smart buyers. In fact they regularly make stupid decisions. In this case the real culprit is the PIAAAA. Ron Paterson has been bragging for some time how he 'set this deal up'. The geniuses, and I use the term loosely, in Government have covered their butts, which is their only priority. They engaged 'the' industry body to oversee the decision. When I went and saw them and said I wasn't happy, they referred me to Ron as the industry guru who set this up, with......'considerable input from the industry'. Direct your anger in the right direction. The fools who allow the PIAaaaaaa to continue operating. US!!! Will be interesting to see if Steve let's this post through :)

BS obviously let Glen go because they didnt recognise his ability. Obviously GONE have seen a skill they require. Lets all hope higher prices are part of the GONE game plan, before their banks shut them down. Anyone notice how the envelope guys are all making <lots of> money now, since the PE guys have left the market? When kmart try to buy direct, the greenies crucify them.
