We could plan ahead for these boycotts so people could stock up. Not everyone would participate, I know, but even if half the country did it would have a huge impact.

So you want to raise funds to help people who want to go to DC and protest, if they are unable to pay for it themselves? What kind of protest are you talking about? Like a huge tea party in the capitol building? What would you want people to do there? I'm thinking block all the doors of the House and Senate so the Congressmen could not get in and continue to ruin our country. Yes, it wouldn't last but a few hours before the police got called but maybe the MSM could drag themselves away from Obama's new puppy long enough to cover it, and then people would see the tax payers mean business.

Which amnesty are you talking about? Immigration amnesty, or is there some union amnesty I know nothing about?

Its an act of civil disobedience we need, like Rosa Parks, Ghandi, or Martin Luther King, Jr. These guys got it. It was simple, poignant, non-violent acts that made huge statements. There are still 47% of Americans who don't agree with Obama's adminstration, probably more now that people might be starting to have buyers remorse. Think of the impact we could have!! If everybody did just one thing but did it all together, just like Parks, King and Ghandi. It started small but it caught on and eventually the gov't had no choice to listen to them and give in!

See, here's the thing about the tea parties. When the colonists dumped tea, it meant something to them and the British. The Brits depended on that money for their gov't, and by boycotting tea and every other thing from Britain the colonists sent a huge message to them that they would not be taken fro granted. They were not a cash cow for the British. While I love the symbolism, that's all this is. I went to a TP on Sat and I will go and bring my kids on Wed. Its a great energizer but its purely symbolic. My Congressmen will not be there, and I know for a fact they don't care how many people show up and dump tea in a river. (Specter; need I say more?)

We need a way to emulate the effects of the colonial tea parties right now, today. There has to be some ingenious, creative way we can also send a very poignant message to our FG. We pay the taxes, the FG needs us. We have the power because its the $$ they need. How do we keep it from them, like our Founding Fathers did?

Thanks for the reply. I own a Ford now, and I can take it to non-GM places for service. I'll gladly boycott anything that BO will use for his advantage. However there must be something that we as a country can do NOW to get Congress' attention. What is it?

I am literally "FED" up with un-representing representatives. I think the tea parties are a great way to start but they don't accomplish much (although they do energize people.) I can't wait until 2010-- the federal gov't (FG) is wasting my money NOW. Come on people, what can we do that will have the same effect on the FG that the colonists had on Britain? Here are some suggestions- please give me your opinions on which might be effective:
Boycott all purchases from any place that has federal taxes, even if just for a few days?
Don't answer the census, or reply as "Independents" instead of Dem or Repub?
Take as much withholding as possible from income taxes so the FG gets less throughout the year?
Shut down Congress some way; mass protest at Capital, block the doors, jam the highways ?
I don't know if any of these are feasible, but something must be done. It has to be something effective, inexpensive, and doable by all participants. Calling COngress just doesn't work anymore. Anyone have any suggestion/comments/criticisms?

Thank you for your service.

It seems to me that the whole administration is not being briefed at all about any foreign diplomacy. We have Hillary making ignorant remarks in Mexico about Our Lady of Guadalupe, giving that stupid plastic button to Russia with the wrong word, and asking on nat'l TV for NK to "give her a call" so they can talk about things.
Obama blows off the PM of England after giving him those ridiculous DVD's and plastic toys, then gives the Queen an IPOD, bows to the king, and makes the helipcopter Marine break his salute. Have I missed anything? Oh yeah, "Special Olympics" on the Jay Leno show. Its so hard to keep up.
These people are either very stupid and ill-prepared,or they just don't care. I think Hillary is the former and the O's are the latter. Obama is trying as hard as he can to let everyone know just how different he is than "Traditional Washington."

Old Army Vet, remember O never served in any form of nat'l service ever, let alone our military. He's clueless about protocol and worse, HE DOESN"T CARE.

What does a gal have to do around here to get a "vote of no confidence" in this president? Bows to the king of SA, apologizes to everyone for America, has no reaction to NK missile, lies to the Armenians to support the Turks, and then, AND THEN, cuts the nuclear defense budget AFTER NK finally shoots off their missile.
What's it going to take, crazy Kim Jong Il himself attacking the WH? You know Kim Jong Il, Bin Laden, King Abdullah, Akhmedinajad (sp?), Chavez, Castro and Putin are just rubbing their hands together and laughing their a-, I mean heads off at this failure of an American president.

Seriously, how hard is it to get a vote of no confidence if he is probably putting us in danger?

I also don't think people realize how big of a deal it is that he bowed to this king. In the Muslim world it shows submission and now everyone all over the world (except of course here in the US) has seen it. Not to mention he looked so stupid doing it since his back was to the camera. Very classy.

I agree.....EVERYONE SHOULD PAY TAXES. I like the comment about Obama's nominees. The pre-bate check seems fair too, so I wonder why it hasn't caught on? I think when Obama loses in 2012 and we have to dig our selves out of debt with a fiscally conservative president, the Fair Tax would be a great way to wean people from gov't welfare. For those who are not used to paying taxes it would gently introduce them to a new reality : shared responsibility for covering our gov't budget. It would effectively end class envy too. If we did this and cut down the gov't work force by 15-20% (I used to work in the VA so I KNOW there is waste), we just might have a shot at saving our kids futures.
