Big Government : Free the 'Shine! Why it's Finally Time to Legalize Liquor

I was under the impression you were allowed to distill up to 50 gallons a year for your own use. You only run into legal trouble if you try to sell it or transport it. Is this correct, or was I misinformed?

Big Government : Unions Hire Non-union Picketers?

The Carpenters Union here in Idaho does the same kind of things all the time. They hire temps from a labor service to hold the signs etc... To add insult to injury they also picket places and businesses that have nothing to do with the dispute. Not long ago they got some very bad press from a picket line at one of our local elementary schools, as they were scaring the kids traveling to and from school. Idaho law says any work done for public buildings etc... has to go to the low bid, they should have been picketing the Capitol Building, and not scaring the heck out of our kids. It's sad to see they play the same despicable games all over the country. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Big Government : Thursday Open Thread: IBM Edition

While this could be considered the beginning of the modern PC, it was hardly the first personal computer. The first Apple 1 came out in 1976, 5 years before the IBM PC. There were Altairs and others that pre-dated even the Apple, but they were not readily available to the public like the Apple 1.

Big Government : AFL-CIO Chief to Breitbart: I Witnessed Racism at Tea Party Rally

You are a tool or a fool or both. Demanding that the federal government keep it's powers limited to the enumerated powers given by the Constitution is hardly "advocating an overthrow of the Government" Your continued attempts to prove that you are not using vulgar sexual innuendos to smear the people within the Tea Party movement is laughable at best. Please give up while your behind, or should I say give up while you are a behind!

Big Government : Big Government Has Never Been Bigger!

While I agree that item 1 of guest's post was wrong just as you said, items 2 and 3 on his list are 100% correct. All budgets must originate in the House, and the Democrats have been in control for 5 years now. You are correct that the last 18 months has been a spending orgy that Bush could never have conceived of much less allowed to pass his desk without a veto. But there is still plenty of blame to go around for this mess on both sides.

Big Government : ObamaCare Is the Democrats’ New Kansas-Nebraska Act

Funny it always seems to me, to be the Progressive Democrats, that are dropping the race card for every little thing they disagree with. These are the people that have to put everyone in a group, that is were all prejudice starts. Conservatives believe in individual responsibility, not in groups, we judge each person, not each group. Based on this the Democrats haven't really come all that far since the 1850s and have a long way to go yet.

Read the 10th Amendment. There is nothing in the Constitution that gives the Federal Government the authority to set up or run anything on a national scale like Social Security or Medicare. Therefore the 10th Amendment places that power firmly in the hands of the States. For this to be done on a national scale would require another Constitutional Amendment to make it legal.

Big Government : Media Lying About Racist Attacks on Black Reps By Tea Party Protesters...VIDEO PROOF

This drives me crazy, there is no such thing as "Reverse Racism" Racism/Bigotry/Prejudice by definition is a hatred for what someone is and not who they are. The Left's hatred of anything not covered by their limited world view and group mentality is Racism/Bigotry/Prejudice in it's purest form.

Big Government : This Week's Elections: Tea Party Post Mortem

Mr. Tuohey the mistake you are making in your argument is that you assume that the Tea Party movement is made up of people with an "R". From the events I have been to, I find most people are like me and could give a crap less what letter is by their name. It's about reducing federal control and spending, neither of which Scozzafava would have done anything about. The Rhinos that were in power during the Bush years surpassed every single administration in recent history, except Obama, in increasing federal spending and oversight of our lives. This is unacceptable to most of us, the Rhino hunt is on, get with it or get out of the way.

Big Government : The Orchid Police: Criminalizing Everything, Everyone

"I'd like to see all the tax evaders get 5x the sentence AND have to pay back 2x what they owe" This may not be such a good idea, they have made all the tax laws so convoluted and complex, that I would bet if the IRS was to dig deep enough, we would all fall in this category. This goes along with the whole point of this article, the federal laws are so complex that we are all criminals and don't even know it
