An unconfirmed news report just released by Fox, says Treasury Department reports that the new debt ceiling (just increased by Congress last month) will be reached before the end of February, 2010....this month. I sure hope this isn't true, but I'll put money on the fact that it is. If true, our credit card just got maxed again and we're emulating Japan. The government needs to start by rolling all expenses back by 10%, right now. Whether or not the goverment rolls back it's expenses, or whether it increases taxes to pay its increased expenditures, the effect rolls down to the average American. I'd prefer to take the hit today, rather than to spread the same hit over a period of years, expressed as inerest on the increased National Debt and an increased loss of independence from the Chinese.

We're personally responsible for the costs of our own Pipe Dreams and we know how much we have to spend. When it comes to a Government Pipe Dream: first, "No price is too high", and second, the Amercian People get to pay the costs without being consulted. This goes to the core of what the great majority of Americans dislike about the way things have gone.....Those in Government who work at our pleasure think we have no right to decide where, why and how much we want to be taxed and no right to decide when "Enough Government is enough"! Congress had no problem, in 1989, moving to impeach Bill Clinton for lying about his affair with Monica and other issues. Why doesn't Obama's apparent failure to "protect and defend" and other hotly discussed Constitutional issues rise to the same level? Rather than to think about passing the Healthcare debacle,as soon as they reconvene, shouldn't The House be looking at Obama? Of course, I think they've forgotten about the U.S. Constitution, too. On second thought., the order of succession would give us Joe Biden as President. Holy Cow!! Next in order of succession could be Nancy Pelosi........ Never Mind!!

I hope this isn't too far off topic! We (Seniors,the Baby Boomers, or whatever euphamism you'd like to use) are still the largest group in the U.S. We have influenced every part of the world economy and society as we've moved through our lives. We need to take action to save the U.S. for future generations, before this craziness goes so far that it can no longer be undone. It is no longer sufficient to threaten to vote these bums out in 2010. There isn't time to ask the Supreme Court to decide that the Liberal's actions are unconstitutional.. no time for further hand-wringing. We need to promise not to forget in the next 10 months and to vote them all out. We then need to put our collective numbers behind removing every one we can take out in the 2012 elections. The liberals are counting on us, the opposition, to lose our resolve, to embrace a third party that will split the vote and render our votes useless and are certain that the young are not paying attention to what is going to happen to them in a few short years. Salty, I agree with you that we're close to bottom. The problem now, as evidenced by Mr. Cantor's post, is that all of these guys take the "Gentlemen's" position...talk about the problems but continue to be a part of them...forget the "Down and Dirty". We'll begin to fix this thing when there are enough people in Congress who refuse to take the Gentlemen's path. johnadams above, asked the question very well: "Why will CONgress conduct hearings on two party crashers at WH, but not investigate Rangel?? Thanks for the Commen pazzi t!! Don't worry! Taking over and trying to run the Press, publicly puts their thumb on the scale. Can you imagine a "Press Conference" where 40% of the reporters worked for the Government? Who'd buy a paper from Uncle Sam? Matter of fact, I don't personally know anyone who wants to buy a car from Government Motors, either! This stuff gets sillier day by day! Sure, the pendulum is swinging and it'll keep swinging. We, as Americans must keep up the pressure so that it does swing, all the way back. Reminds me of the Rancher who was training his horse to eat horse manure. He got the horse up to about 60% horse manure and it died. The American people are a lot like that horse....except when they've had all the horse manure they can handle, they won't die...Americans are not dumb brutes. My guess is that we're at about 54% right now. It's impotant that we let Congress know what we want and what we don't want. As I've said before, watch how they vote, make lists, Tea Party and Vote 'em out in 2010 & 2012.
