April 15: Tea Parties w/ upwards of 1M people, nonpartisan.
April 16: Obama releases classified CIA memos about torture techniques during Bush administration.

It may be worthwhile to consider that he did this as a shot across the bow of the Tea Parties. That's not to say that he would not eventually have released them - but surely he is shrewd enough to release them when it gains him the most advantage. Surely the Tea Parties concern him, because he realizes some Democrats and Independents are outraged at government spending and power grabs, too. He cannot afford to lose support of those who voted for him.

The CIA memos represent a wedge issue - one that is sure to divide Republicans and Democrats emotionally, making us less willing to work together. I'm sure that is a standard ploy to keep "the people" at bay. I think it is important that we not let this be used as a wedge issue that prevents reasonable Americans from uniting against the obscene growth of our federal government.

pwnjr - I agree with you. One time President Bush called them weapons of mass murder (WMMs). I wish he stuck to that. Most of the weapons he had would not cause phiysical destruction so much as murder. So the dead Kurds, etc... would be evidence of WMMs. People got nukes and such in their minds with the term WMDs. (Anyways, maybe I obsess about a point that maybe is not that big a distinction.) For what its worth...

For my part, I came across this news that 550 metric tons of yellowcake uranium was hauled secretly from Iraq to Canada - who purchased it - buried in a Chicago newspaper. It's a legit Associated Press article. My opinion: the media suppressed this info, since it was prior to the election and showed President Bush was right about WMDs, and the Dems were wrong (oops, I mean lied).

Libs choose (so they can't whine): 1) one side divides the land into two halves 2) the other side chooses which of the two halves they want. Fairest way. Even if we took the whole debt, we'd be better off in 5 years or less. We'd lower taxes and bust the unions so our companies could compete with the rest of the world. We would have an economc boom. They would divide the wealth (some would get a more equal share than others, though - communism always works that way), and spend 'til it's gone. They's be clammering to get in, so we would protect our borders. Good idea.

Mugwump - it was several hundred metric tons of yellowcake uranium. The stuff was bought by Canada, from Iraq. U.S. kept it secret until the material was movec. The media buried it. You can find the AP article. Obviously, it would have accomplished the following, if given proper coverage:

1) Proven that President Bush was right, before the election.
2) Proven that Democrats were wrong, before the election.

Evidently, that was an intolerable outcome of the truth.

CRAZY TALK ALERT. Well, mubashir, we can talk crazy because it may stimulate other more sane ideas. I don't know about your crazy talk, but mine follows. Did not the Obama administration recently request the ability to take over any company that threatens our economy or security or something? Did they get that authority? Anyways, what i'm getting at is whether the apparatus is in place (or coming) that would allow the government to take over weapon or ammunition manufacturing companies. How crazy is that?

There are two 912 sites that look identical in all aspects except for the URLs:
1) http://theglennbeck912project.com/
2) http://www.the912project.com/
They have all the same Vent comments, etc... Still is it possible one is a ripoff site? Does anyone know which is the official one? I assume http://www.the912project.com/, but the other one is newer, has a new 912 logo embedded with its URL in the address bar. (I know looks are deceiving but I'm just letting you know.)
Anyone have inside information?
