Cultural reasons/concepts of words must play a role.
I would ask what the word for "evil" in Japanese means. Does it mean evil like Hitler? Or does it mean evil like dark things. For example I write this with darkness around me. And it has a sort of sinister/evil feel to it, despite the fact I am alone, and I am not an evil person.

As for English translation into English translation, it has to do with sentence structure and word order which gets to a point where it may as well be easier/suit the story better to just use a different word.
