I have an AT&T locked 3GS on 4.1 with 05.14.02 I can not use the phone since I am not in the USA. If there is any reasonable chance that this phone can be unlocked in the future, i will just wait. If there is no reasonable chance I probably better update to 5.0.1, and at least use it as an ipod with GPS and what is very important to me: icloud. (without update to 5.0.1 I can not use my 3GS since one of the main use for me is syncing calendars, and since mobile me is gone, I need icloud. But if January or so It could be unlocked, and I would not able to, because i updated, I would be really upset.
