I had a handful of post ideas -- one mostly written, the others more just ideas in my head -- that I never got around to pitching. I am going to write those pieces up and see if anyone else will publish them, because life's too short to hold off on writing things you enjoy. (Although I don't know of anywhere else that does anything like Femslash Friday. Maybe Autostraddle?)

And maybe, if I get ambitious, I'll also start write the lesbian historical romance novels I'd like to see in the world. Dedicated to the Toast commentariat, of course!

Cheers to every last one of you beautiful weird land mermaids and space witches and fellow librarians. May your toast never be burnt or underdone but always exactly as you like it.

The internet will be a smaller and a less interesting place without The Toast, and I'm going to miss all of you so much. I'm sad today in direct proportion to how much this site and all of you have made my life better and richer and funnier.

As Isobel said on Downton Abbey: "Well, aren't we the lucky ones?"

I just got teary in public at work, after having to pick my jaw up off the floor. What a way to send off The Toast!

I grew up in Maryland, and I've been a fan of Barbara Mikulski for years. Love her.

I started silently shrieking in horror at

Also, do you think it’s a dealbreaker if someone says they’re voting for Trump?? Election years are so stressful.

and then the silent shrieking intensified at

Can someone do a quick Google of Brexit?

and

Sort of a passive (but cute!!!) plan, Gracie! I think Hillary would want you to Lean In a little more ;) Needs a better hook, angle, graf, lede, hed, deck, meta, etc. Think about the clicks, G!

and then I hit "pained lolsob" at

What did Hamilton people usually eat?

Hamilton people. Hamilton. People.

I'm going to miss the Hey Ladies a lot, in a cringey schadenfreude-laden way.
