The Toast : Cyber Friday Bargain Bin

Seconding this recommendation. N1 is better for my pale skin than most foundations, even expensive ones. And I never put it all over my face, just in red areas. It's pretty sheer and gives buildable coverage. Now, though, I usually use Stila tinted moisturizer in "fair", because it doesn't have chemical sunscreens - my face skin doesn't like chemical sunscreens.

See, awesome! I'm so excited somebody with experience answered. I have to go the non-fancy Joanne craft store in the suburbs to get a loom, but now I can't wait. I've seen those wrist-warmers - I think you knit them *around* the rectangle? Or that's what youtube says. First I shall make a rectangle, for sure.

Thanks for the links! These are definitely fancy. I just came from the hoitiest of hoity-toity yarn stores, where I didn't buy anything but they were very nice? I will go back there if I decide to go the garter-stitch route, for sure. Which I may. My dad might need a sports-ball-team scarf in stripes..........

No, I'm just an outlier. My aunts would very much disapprove if they saw me make it. My mom just rolls her eyes, but she's used to my froo-froo ways. Peeling celery, zesting oranges, using fresh parsley in the stuffing - I'm a freak, really.

I would take him to a professional kid-hair-cutting place, but if he's super anxious about it, maybe let it go for awhile? Some kids don't like hair cuts :( (Is it terrible that it cracks me up that in your attempt to un-waif him he now has jacked-up partially cut hair? Because that is just hilarious to me......) (p.s. make sure you take pictures!)

Any knitting board/loom people here? I am thinking of trying it. I want a fancy scarf and in regular knitting I can only knit, not purl (I've tried!), which very much limits my options. Loom knitting looks easy-ish? Is it fun?

Are you in my family? My one innovation in making the cranberry relish is that I carefully remove the zest of the orange, chop it up first in the processor with some sugar, then add the cranberries and the flesh of the orange with the white stuff (pith) removed. It really improves the dish. (I hate the white stuff.)

Blackberry bushes in flower - they smell SO GOOD. It's PNW thing, I think. Also linden trees, clean sheets in the linen closet, nature's gate herbal shampoo & conditioner......so many. You know how some people are more visual, auditory, tactile? I'm olfactory. I agree with everyone on the fake-food smells, tho. Besides the general fakeness that I don't like, they also make me hungry! I don't want to smell like a cookie, or be thinking about them when it's not cookie-time.

My understanding is that this MIGHT work, for SOME children, but it's medically supervised and starts with micro doses. It's not like you just feed the kid a little of whatever food might kill them, and see what happens. Not that you're saying that, but those grandparents were def too stupid/stubborn to be trusted. (edit: here's one article that talks about the protocol http://stanmed.stanford.edu/2014fall/i-can-eat-it...

I feel you on this one! Unfollowing is the only way I can continue to like/look in the eye several relatives. In my family we never really discuss politics and religion face to face - I wish they didn't on Facebook, either. I used to like some people a lot better before they forced me to know their terrible opinions :(

Very smart! Getting or staying in the game, professionally, is invaluable, especially if all you have is tech experience. Volunteering and internships count, too, if they are meaningful, e.g. developing programs, leading projects, etc. Another little piece of advice is that, if you want to work in a particular city, consider going to library school in a different city - like on another coast or in another country. Being from "elsewhere" educationally means you'll bring a different intellectual and experiential perspective, which is a sought-after quality in a candidate, especially at entry-level.

Question about commenting on this here site: is it possible to get back to your own (or others') comments directly? I seem to just get sent to the top of the thread, which isn't useful when there's hundreds of nested comments. Help, please, and thank you.
