HGTV Design Star : Dan is Your Favorite Designer!

In the same way that every city has squatters, homeless people and drug houses that get broken into and trashed. It happens all the time. And this is speaking from my seeing it first hand. It is no different than foreclosed homes where the people destroy things before they leave. It is the same way that homes that have been abandoned have been broken into and the copper tubing taken for sale. It is the same in many cities all over. And, now more than ever, it happens way to often. The man in Henderson NV (a nice area, by the way) drove his truck into his house 3 or 4 times and destroyed it because the Marshalls came to toss him out after he was foreclosed on. I bet that one will sell for a good price. My guess is that he bought this home in the condition it was in and took it on as his project.

HGTV Design Star : Chat Live With Antonio

Despite his looks, he does have a kind heart. Lonnie and helping her with the white room is one instance. And I, for one, do not believe his tears were "fake" as some have said when speaking about the military family's home. And, please, no b&*%#$Ng about the tan paint when there have to be at least 40 neutral shades of white at the paint chip counter! The colors worked and the spouse was happy. I also noticed that Antonio made it a point to thank his helpers each and every time he worked with someone. Dan did-but I only noticed it on the last show. So, like my mom always said, don't judge a book by its cover. JMHO and looking forward to Sunday.

You know something... I just watched the rerun of the final episode and I realized that for all of Dan's giving the family a "fresh start", why the heck did he NOT buy new bed linens??? Call me crazy (or stupid) but that was tacky. Especially in light of the mom and daughter's situation. Antonio's rooms were all "freshened up" down to new bedding.

Well, I can't find my post to make a reply? Bridget, Yes a UH Warriors fan BUT right now too focused on my Phillies doing the World Series thing again:) I know I did not have to voice my opinion but it was all of the hatred that is being shouted here. I just do not like that, in words or in person. It is just wrong to hate someone a person has not even met. I always believed that "hate is just another four letter word" that does not belong here. I may "hate" something but there are very few people that I am aquainted with that I "hate". And, believe me, they did something really wrong to me (say they have cancer when they don't) when I do have cancer. This person is a chronic liar but I got along with her until this happened. Yes, I hate her for what she had said and done. And, no, she did not, nor did she ever, have cancer. So, in the scheme of my life, there are a total of 3 people I hate. And, since they are not around me, I do not waste the energy of actively hating them. I hope this makes sense Bridget. Your e-mail was appreciated and thoughtful. Mahalo!

Brenda, I thought it was rather funny to see him cut the cake with a saw. Also, we see him "bowling" and using soda bottles. People are upset that he is doing this in the grocery store and their children will see it. When the show airs it is 10PM on a Sunday night. Why are they awake? But seriously, are we sure it is in the grocery store? Remember that they are staying in that huge house and they could be in the kitchen. JMHO.

Linda-not to mention that he was told to count the money. We did not see him do that. In another post someone actually quoted the footage we saw in the van. And we, the viewers, heard him say he will own up to it being his fault. We, the viewers, never saw that either. That was a very important point in my mind anyway, that we never saw it. Thanks, Linda, for mentioning it again. I am afraid that the fans of Dan will deny it, and reading the interview with his aunt may "clear the air" but I know what I heard and what I saw.

Aren't we all glad we have a selection of more than HGTV as a channel to watch? Not to mention an on/off button for the TV? When Antonio's show comes on, you have a choice. Me, I will leave it on HGTV to watch his show. My choice, and I am glad I am allowed the freedom to choose who I want to watch. Now, can we please stop with the hate being spouted here. As others have said-Antonio won and Dan won the online show, and both knew the outcome months ago. Let's move on.

HGTV Design Star : Sorry Gang, The Polls Are Closed

I stopped voting for Dan several weeks ago. It was because he said a few things I didn't like. He did a few things I didn't like. I split my votes for the online show between Antonio and Lonnie. Maybe I read things into Dan other people didn't see or chose to ignore. Me, I worked with people like him, and I did not like things they did or said or how they were outside of work. My choice, my votes, my impression. I also know that whites, creams and tans are also not the only neutral colors out there. Go to the paint store and see just how many shades of "white" are out there. I feel that HGTV was looking for someone willing to take design to a new edge. And, I feel that Antonio is that person. He is also not afraid to think on his feet or do something different. JMHO.

Mowgo-you are one of the few who "gets this"! I wonder if the rumormongers out there are posting that Dan worked on another designer's show or if this is just another way to discredit Antonio because he IS a set designer?

Umm...advertisers supplied flooring and appliances and electronics ON TOP OF the $50K budget. And have you ever used a roller chair on tiles? Protector under the chair or not, I think it would be annoying. Alternate Flooring will "cushion" the rollers JMHO.

JMHO= either Just my humble opinion or, I have heard also, Just my honest opinion. Some of the language on the posts are crude and condescending. Speaking as a woman I was offended by the words, not to mention the hate, being spewed in some of the comments. The judges looked at things as a "whole" and both good and bad were reviewed and discussed amongst them. Bottom line, Dan and "more mistakes" than Antonio. But the Antonio haters far outnumber the the Dan lovers. Me, I lost respect for Dan when he promised he would own up to the mistake for the pergola. If he did, we did not see it on air. But bottom line on the pergola issue is that even if it was corrected, he originally signed for something $5000+ over budget. Correction be danged, it was "over budget" and even the new replacement was $500 over budget. JMHO, though ;)

Just a thought, but I am wondering if part one of the blog was pulled, not for negative comments, but reviewing for foul language? I already reported 2 posts because I was offended by some of the words. I am not a prude by any means. Heck, I am married to a Las Vegas bartender, so I have heard it all! Negative comments are one thing but nasty, offensive words are quite another. JMHO, though.

What I liked was when he left the home and he was so disappointed with the kitchen color. The next day he resolved it by having the paint colored-no added shopping needed-problem solved:) Glad I helped, Leslie. And it was rude of me to not say "if you taped it or recorded it", so I apologize for that;( And for the record-he can come to my home and design for me anytime!
