People in Northern Ireland are entitled to both Irish and British citizenship and those who consider themselves to be Irish will inevitably want to play for the Irish international team as opposed to the Northern Ireland team which identifies as British. All they'll want to know is whether the player is entitled to Irish citizenship or not.
