RTE Sport : Chelsea chairman laments FFP helping \'great unwashed\'

Has he lost his marbles? Chelsea and Man City aren't big clubs. They're mid-ranking clubs with billionaire owners. They've been purchasing trophies rather than winning them. It's the least impressive way to acquire silverware. FFP is a good idea. It should stop the trophy purchasing of recent years and will protect clubs in the long term. After all, if Abramivich was to go under a bus how would Chelsea survive? Buck is effectively saying that Financial Doping is the way forward. But, as the name suggests, it's just a form of cheating.

RTE Sport : Michael O\'Neill takes aim at FAI

Michael O'Neill is well off target with those comments. People in Northern Ireland are entitled to both Irish and British citizenship and those who consider themselves to be Irish will inevitably want to play for the Irish international team as opposed to the Northern Ireland team which identifies as British. It doesn't take a lot of working out. And I doubt if the FAI cares one iota about the religion of their players. All they'll want to know is whether the player is entitled to Irish citizenship or not.

What a brilliant broadcaster. I've been listening to him all my life and back in the days when Ireland's away international games were only broadcast on radio he made the listener feel as if he was in the stadium. Different class, indeed. RIP, Jimmy.

RTE Ten : EastEnders fans await Grim Reaper\'s return to Walford

This is a soap opera that presents utter misery as entertainment. It's always been like that, of course, but these days the plots are so ridiculous that it makes Dallas look plausible. How many disasters have befallen the miserable folk of Albert Square in the last couple of months? Every second episode seems to be full of ambulances. Maybe, instead of killing off some of the characters, they should just kill off the entire show.....

Is this article serious? They need to sort things out and they've turned to Brian Cowen???? The same Brian Cowen who was so inept as Taoiseach he almost made Bertie Ahern look competent? The same Brian Cowen who was so unsuccessful as leader of Fianna Fail that he almost makes Micheal MArtin look like he knows what he's doing?? That guy?? Offaly hurling may never recover from this.....

I love the way the article suggests that Mourinho is trying to guide United to their second major trophy of the season. It would be more accurate to say that they're attempting to win their second MINOR trophy of the season. Meanwhile their league position of sixth just shows that Mourinho has taken United backwards since Van Gaal left.

RTE Sport : \'Bit of a red card\' came from clever play - Mourinho

Aguero was way too clever for the hapless Fellaini. He knew that Fellaini was fuming and squared up to him almost as if he was asking to be headbutted. And Fellaini fell for it. Head butt. Red card. No argument. Terrible game though. This is the most boring United team I've ever seen. Mourinho is doing his best to win minor trophies in order to cover up the fact that he is unable to compete for major trophies and is playing the dullest football ever seen at Old Trafford. The problem is United's fans have been brought up to expect attractive, attacking football and to be competitive in both Premier League and Champions League. Mourinho's days are numbered.

Bale and Taylor should get the same punishment. They effectively committed the same foul. The only difference was that John O'Shea saw that Bale was about to do him and managed to get his weight off his foot before the impact. I suspect it was Bale's celebrity status that saved him from what should have been an inevitable red card.

It's very amusing seeing Guardiola and Mourinho battling it out for fifth and sixth place in the league. I bet neither of them were expecting that. Especially when you consider that their clubs have been spending far more on transfers than everybody else in recent years. The fact is that the clubs above them are in that position because their managers are doing a better job than Pep and Jose.
