JustJilly, I am getting my info from KSTP. Therefore, I am commenting on this KSTP article, not a Hudson article. The KSTP aritcle clearly states this latest incident of child abuse was discovered after the death of the baby. It further states that the death of the baby is being investigated which is contrary to you saying that "there is no baby and no foul play is involved." So maybe you should complain to KSTP for not reporting the full story. By the way, I wasn't aware that I couldn't comment on a a story without "fully" researching it...

This situation is a failure of the system any way you look at it. Repeated abuse by a rotten mother.. over 14 years worth. And now another dead baby? And so the moral is... display a pattern of child abuse over years, murder your baby, and receive 90 days in jail with some probation. Way to go, Wisconsin.

Uh, the headline states that authorities said Megan Neely's cause of death was strangulation. Yet the articles states the cause of death has not been released. What's the truth? How much more inaccurate can this story be????

Furfysmom, you wanted to make it clear that Corey Thomas was not a fugitive from the MN DOC until Monday shortly after the murder. What does that matter? Because prior to Monday he was still a violent convicted felon on parole. That's not an assumption, it's a fact.

Big Media Bias, I don't understand what you're talking about when you say Obama took you tax money and paid for prison food and housing... I don't get it. Prisons were thriving before Obama came around. And if that's how you think then I give thanks for paying my salary so I can continue to protect the public (i.e., You) from people like them (i.e., convicted felons).

CJESP, You're wrong about being able to view Corey Thomas's Facebook wall. You can see his wall without being his "friend". It all depends on the person's privacy settings as to whether or not you can view their wall. Corey Thomas has a "public" wall, therefore anyone can view it. Take a look.. you can view it too. You're right, I didn't know Megan. Her death was tragic... any murder is. I never questioned that she was a loving person turning her life around. What I questioned was why she brought Corey Thomas into her life and her daughters' lives. I know enough about Corey Thomas. He's a violent convicted felon who is also a fugitive. You said just because people made mistakes in their past doesn't make them bad for the rest of their lives. Well, most convicted felons don't turn their lives around... it's call recidivism... Look it up, it's a fact.. most felons commit more crimes and return to prison. As a parent you don't bring drungs around your kids, or weapons, or violent convicted inmates. There is a reason why criminal histories don't disappear off your record when you are released from prison. His wrongful past will follow him for the rest of his life regardless of how good of a person he is now.

I remember this guy.... he was an ex-inmate at the MN DOC. He walked with a cane and always had some legal issue that he was trying to fight. Looks like he was a wanted fugitive too.

I don't understand why the don't have the thought process to take this baby to a firehouse, police station, etc. with no questions asked. I would be surprised if this loser even sees a day of prison. Unfortunately most of these abusers don't. They get probation. It's obviously a huge problem with our system. Follow this case and see where he ends up. As for the MN DOC shipping him out to some other state, that only maybe comes after he gives enough headache to the staff who are ultimately responsible for his safety. Trust me, we have plenty child abusers, molesters, and baby killers in our MN prisons right now.

He'll arrive at MCF-St. Cloud as a marked coward. All the inmates will have his name memorized. Unfortunately, our prison system will see that he is marked and in fear for his safety so they will have the resposibility to segregate and protect him. What a poor excuse of a human and now the citizens of MN will pay $70 a day to keep him alive for the next 30 odd years.

Fanceeepants, FYI-- Unfortunately some Somali people do illegal things just like all the other races and ethnicities out there. Somali people are in our prisons right along with the rest of the inmates. Just because they practice Islam and observe Ramadan and don't eat pork doesn't mean some of them don't commit crimes.
