This is one of my absolute favorite Discworld books (partially, I suppose, that there are two Discworld characters I'd like to grow up to be. Granny is one. The other we haven't met yet Fhfna) Which is sort of funny because I don't really have anything in common with either of them, I just want the distilled awesome that they have.

Granny would have been terrifying as a wicked witch. And she would have had so much fun doing it too. So maybe it's good Lily got there first even if she thought she was good. I guess that's the difference right there though. If Granny had been the bad one she would have KNOWN she was the bad one. And totally owned the role. Lily kept lying to herself about it.

I just recently finished the first Indexing by Seanan McGuire sort of independently of reading this and it amused me that it had some of the same themes about Stories. I recommend it for anyone who isn't quite ready to leave fairytales just yet.

Finally sort of back on track with Mark Reads (at least with Discworld, still way behind in Emelan but I may just catch the start of the next book there than trying to catch up.

Witches Abroad is one of my favorite Discworld books (I started to write actual favorite but then I remembered Ubtsngure, and Guvrs bs Gvzr, and the Gvssnal books and and and....

For people who are reading on the kindle: Do they ever get better with the footnotes? I had misplaced my copy of Pyramids and bought it to read along but I got made at the footnotes being all screwed up and bought a paper copy (I don't REALLY like reading on the kindle anyway but it's tempting to have all the books there so I can have them all at my fingertips when travelling)

This is a job for....the seamstress guild!

Er, well, not really.

It would be an amusing injection into a modern zombie movie though ;-)

Salt was used for zombies too, if you filled a zombie's mouth full of salt they'd have to return to their grave. You had to sew their lips shut though to keep them from spitting it out.

Yay! Reaper Man is one of my favorites, very glad we got to it (not that I wasn't enjoying moving pictures but I've been looking forward to this one for awhile)

I'm very much looking forward to new reader's reactions to this one but terribly afraid to say much for inadvertent spoilers.

I remember having cassette tapes that took almost an hour in some cases to load the game. And then the system would let you play for a hour or so before ti overheated and you'd have to start over again :-)
