We battered them second half. Get your head out of the clouds. After a disappointing first half we eased to a routine win. 3 points. 2nd place. In the context of the other results, a fantastic day to be a Hammer. Champagne football can wait. This season is about results and results only. We're getting them. In the words of Thatcher, but this time said a little more appropriately, "just rejoice".

West Ham Till I Die : Maybe Drawing at Home with Bristol City Was Not Such a Bad Result?

Appreciate that, Ironside - although I am at times even more critical of Mr Cole than I am of SJC! After the Hull performance, in which he was outstanding for around 20 minutes and, together with Green, effectively won us the match I am keeping a lower profile. My contention would be that, a game or two down the track, he'll revert to type and continue to underwhelm. Would LOVE to be wrong though......

Ray, Tom and Aussie have it pretty much spot on, for me. Just back from the game and it really was woeful stuff. Thing is, I expected it too. Actually put money on a 1-0 win for City. Lost the bet, I'm pleased to say but actually, towards the end, began to wonder if I might be about to cash in! We've been piss poor at home all season, for me, Blackpool being the only real exception. There was a load of cods talked on here after Saturday's scrape against Leicester, who outplayed us for significant periods of the game. Playoff place and ultimate failure is what I predicted before a ball had been struck and I have seen absolutely nothing to make me change that opinion. Make no mistake, we are categorically NOT one of the top two in this league on the evidence of the first third of the season. Just about 6 for e every player from me (average) with Cole and Nolan getting 5s and Baldock and JT gaining a 7.

The point is well made about the young talent coming through. I am encouraged to see the recall of Montano, too and only hope that the lad gets his chance on Saturday. The evidence to date with the signing of Baldock is not so encouraging. Sam has played a couple of bit part cameos whilst Cole has laboured up front in a strategy that is not reaping rewards. With the solidity across the back 4 and in midfield that you rightly allude to, I am desperate for Sam to back his pre-season pledge of playing more expansively at home. Montano and Baldock would give us that possibility in my view, with Lansbury buzzing around to add the creative midfield guile. I'm not holding my breath though.

Great post, Iain! I'd love to think that Mr Tevez would come to us on loan but I think there's absolutely no chance of that whatsoever, sadly. On a weekend dominated by yet another shambles of an England display and men who play with their egg-shaped balls, I guess it gives us something to talk about that relates to West Ham.
