I could care less about about what Butler says about TL. He was destroying our basketball program. He couldn't relate to the players. He did not relate to fans. He was the worst coach we ever had & I am totally happy that he is gone. The day he was fired I started to feel hope again that our basketball team might recover from his ineptness. Way too many players left or were wanting to leave under his watch. His style of play was horrible to watch period. Good riddance to the Butler Way & the flunky Lackluster.

I am excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! McCaffery is a great hire. He has the stats & his style of play & defense is just what we needed. On to a winning coach & a better season. I can't wait to see how much our program will improve. McCaffery will appeal to the new recruits & people McCaffery recruits for us !!!!!

From what I have researched Fran McCaffery is a good hire. He has brought Sienna out of a deep loosing pit to makinf the NCAA. Hw has brought 3 programs from loosing to wining teams. Good job Barta :)

GazetteOnline.com : Iowa coaching update: Dayton's Gregory holds the key?

You are totally crazy to want a coach that had a 14-17 record this year. Shades of Lackluster all over again! Gregory & Scott Drew are the best choices. I know many people who will not attend or buy season tickets for a loosing coach who had a 14-17 record this year. Plenty of coaches can shoot their mouth off at the press. Few coaches have winning records every year. NO - NO - NO to the looser Boylen.

Barta will be hung in effigy is he brings Boylen to Iowa. The guy had a loosing record this year & blew up at the media when asked about the last game. Barta, if you bring Boylen to Iowa we will ask for your resignation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO WAY ON BOYLEN!!!!!!!!!!!! Go for Gregory. He is a proven winner !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. I think Barta really blew it by hiring Lackluster & then looking inept because he justifiably had to can Lackluster for a horrible record ; the worst record in the history of Iowa basketball. Barta better come through or the Hawkeye fan base will demand his resignation.

Brian Gregory & Scott Drew would be good for Iowa. I hope Barta isn't a dumb_ _ _ and doesn't get either coach. Barta fumbled around to where we don't have a good practice facility until now. He is an idiot. If he comes back with that coach that has a loosing/ mediocre record he should be fired on the spot. Barta & Lackluster destroyed Iowa basketball. We need a savy coach. I hope Barta has the guts to bring in a winner. Yes Iowa does get money from the general fund which comes from tax payers. As fans we should not have to put up with an AD who can't deliver. If Barta doesn't get this right I say we all email Sally Mason & tell her to fire Barta!!! Barta, your job is on the line too!

Brian Gregory is the right fit for IOWA. YouTube has a great feature on Gregory. We would do well to get Gregory. If Barta screws this up too he will further destroy Iowa basketball. Gregory is the coach that would be great for Iowa. I don't care about Brad Brownwell. He doesn't have enough experience. The Big 10 would eat him alive just like Lackluster!!!

Jim Boylen should NOT be considered. His team went 14-17 this year. OMG how can anyone mention him for the Iowa job. We just had a 14-17 type coach get fired. Barta, you can NOT possibly consider this guy!!! I will not support this coach & neither will many other fans I know. I'm talking about 100s of people I know who will be totally PO if Barta tries to hire this guy. We don't want him period Barta!!!!!!!! IOWA needs a good coach, not a 14-17 type coach who got PO at the media when he was asked why his team went 14-17. Check it out, it is all over the internet that this coach blew up at the media. Sounds like Alfraud - EWWWWWWWWWW

Brian Gregory would be a good candidate. I saw a YouTube feature on Gregory & he seems to be a great prospect. He is loved by everyone - players, community, college/community fan base, other coaches praise him , parents love him, he knows how to rebuild a program, a family man, he knows how to recruit. Let's look seriously at Gregory. They just beat Illinois in the NIT. He is rebuilding the Dayton program & having good success. We have to start with a winner & Gregory could be the one.

I found a Youtube feature on Brian Gregory that sold me on Brian Gregory. He has all of the characteristics one would want in a coach at Iowa. Jim Boylen had a 14-17 season last year..NO WAY should IOwa even look at him. I think Brian Gregory is our guy since we lost out on Tony Barbee.

OMG don't even consider hiring a coach with a 14-17 record. we just got rid of Lick who thought records like this is showing progress. Barat, pick a winner or else CHA will remain empty. Tony Barbee was a good choice. BArta let him slip through his fingers. There is NO WAY Iowa fans will support Boylen.
GazetteOnline.com : Cully Payne: Iowa AD did not give players a 'timetable'

What closet have you be in? The empty seats at CHA is the fans being ignored by the AD which wanted Lickliter gone last year. No one listened until the almost empty CHA spoke volumes & hit the pocket book. I'm sorry dude but taxes & fans buying tickets & showing up pay for a lot of what happens in Iowa City, Cedar Falls, & Ames. Barta can not be considered intelligent after saying only a month ago that he was behind Lickliter . That is pure idiot talking. He said that with an empty CHA sitting right in his lap. Many people do not trust Barta's judgement after acting like Toddly's buddy only one month ago. There was no way Lickliter was going to have success in 3 years. A good coach would have but not Mr. "Do it the Butler Way" Lickliter. Thank G_d he is gone.Get real and look at the whole picture before you jump on me.

One thing is for sure. Barta better get the job done right this time. The days of fans being ignored by the AD are OVER. Hear that Barta!!!! Even the Board of Regents is threatening to make the universities pay for coaches out of their own pocket. Barta, you caused this with your hire of Lickliter & then standing behind him longer than you should have. Lickliter should have be fired last year!! Th BOR won't get their way because it would bankrupt colleges & we'd have no teams. Barta, wake up!!! This is your warning! You better get it right this time & pay attention to your fans. If you fail to pay attention to the large portion of what the fan base expects than you are going to be marched out the door before your contract is up. Iowa fans don't have to put up with arrogance by an AD or a coach any more! Be a leader or resign yourself Barta!

GazetteOnline.com : Links on potential Iowa candidates; Keno out?

I have done a lot of reading on various sites. The name that seems to possess many of the qualities I would like to see in the next coach is Tony Barbee. He can coach & is a very strong recruiter. I think he would put Licklitter's so called-talent in the closet. Barbee is highly touted. He has brought more than one failing program to success. He has strong ties for recruiting. I think young players will want to come & play for him plus the current players we have. I don't want Keno, Jacobsen - not enough experience, or most of the other names listed. Barbee would be the best candidate unless the press doesn't know something about him. I mean who knew Licklitter couldn't recruit players for Big 10 caliber. I also read that Lickliter had a reputation for being stubborn. No wonder players wanted to leave with his "do it my way or else attitude". I am so happy they got rid of Toddly I am dancing every day. We do have a bright future with the Iowa men's basketball program.
