I would limit the closing of factories to just the ones that actually produce vehicles for american consumption. There is no reason to close a plant in europe for cars that are sold in europe.

Most people are in a financial crisis because of their own doing. Over-stretching themselves financially and all that. There are many who have lost their jobs; many who can not find a new one. But, a lot of the people whining have simply made poor financial decisions. I'm in the same boat, except I still have my job so far. As for the autoworkers. How about we drop wages of everyone making more than $25/hour. Some of those auto workers make up to $75/hour. This is not realistic. If they want to keep their company and jobs, lets drop everyones pay to a max of $25/hour until the business is back up and running.

Drop the minimum wage. Kick out illegals. Change the welfare program to aide those that are honestly looking for work and then reward them by simply adding a small amount of money for the first year that they work at a min. wage job. Wait... these illegals have A social security number. Someone is legal. These businesses are paying these people min. wage already or better AND the taxes that come with employment. Are they just saying that they cannot get workers that are legal??? Try in a few more months if Obama gets elected. You will have all the legal americans you want looking for work.

KATU - Portland, OR : Report: Kids less likely to graduate than parents | KATU.com - Portland, Oregon | National

Great point. In fact, we need skilled labor. Not college graduates that believe that they should be making $60-$80 thousand a year. Some stats show that the skilled labor pool is where the money will be in the next decades to come. We don't need engineers. We need nurses. We don't need lawyers and doctors, we need iron workers, welders and the like. High School graduation is paramount. College education is not. Washington State boasts that it has some of the highest SAT/ACT scores in the nation, but we also have an agricultural side to us much like oregon. We also have Boeing. They don't need more engineers. They need more people that can come out of highschool go to a trade school or community college for 2 years and come out with the skills needed to make good money as an electrician or plumber.

Women make great leaders... they're most important leadership role is with the children in their formative years. In fact, it is the talk about it being sexist that causes real harm to any woman's movement. If a woman wants to chose their career over children, that is fine. But do not tell me that as a woman, you want to be able to have a career and be a mother. That you want the responsibility to control a company AND get special time off when the 2-year-old is sick, or for baseball practice, PTA, Swim Lessons, or the field trip. NO career is more important than the successful development of adolescent children. Clinical studies have proven that both boys and girls need a mother's influence in their lives through the age of 12. Boys after 12 need the added influence of a strong male father-figure. Nobody has ever been upset when a Male politician has brought their children along. The fact that Sarah Palin has to have these quibbles become such big issues only show how scared some politicians are of her and her leadership, Good or Bad.

Also... remember. These people are not business men and women. They are politicians. They have a whole different set of rules. Not a single one of them thinks what she did was wrong. Some might say that it was horrible and that they themselves never did it, but that is mainly because they didn't think of it first.

I think that if any politician takes their child with them, and that child's picture is taken for the benefit or detriment of said activity, then it is an expense that that politician can expense to the tax-payers. "Look at those cute kids... get a picture!" No problem, I will send you the bill.

How often will there be a chance for a vice-president to go anywhere with the kids??? Plus, the government already probably pays a lot to take care of the children of the president and vice president. You either never see them, or you see them for photo ops. You still see the president, first lady, vice president, second lady (is that what you call her... ) but no kids... where are they??? Oh yeah, tax payer presidential nanny. That's right.

What have the democrats done??? Put our economic future into a tailspin spiralling down. Divided their own party and then the country greatly. The congress under democrat control in an election year (two years this year) did exactly what they tried to do when they wanted to elect Jimmy Carter. He was elected and remember what happened to the country under his control. Democrats made sure that the country would want to switch executive control by destroying the financial stability of the country with no way to save it if they won. Don't be fooled. We are in for a world of hurt if Obama is elected President.

Most likely there will be another terrorist attack on US soil. Most likely there will be an attempt on Obama's life. Look at the history of "brilliant" 40 something year old presidents. Biden himself uses Kennedy's name in the statement. Both were visionaries.

Except for Ford had one of the highest quality ratings in the industry through Consumer Reports this year. Hyundai was up there too.. And yet the Koreans are still perceived as a low quality vehicle. Tonkin was correct in the statement that the domestic auto manufacturers do not have a quality problem. Almost all vehicles are built the same. The problem is a perception problem. Buy Domestic. Buy American. Our labor is too expensive because the auto unions mandate that a auto worker should make $75/hour to do what most equivalent workers would be paid no more than $25. I do not agree with the amount of pay that US auto workers make. I mean, the area where auto plants are located... mostly in the midwest.... has some of the lowest cost of living than anywhere in the country. Why do they get paid soooo much. I can understand some getting paid well... quality control agents for example, but why the guy that sits on the line putting the the seat? If auto manufacturers want to make more money and sell more cars. Pay their employees less. Lose the unions. And drop the price.

I talk to people all day long. They all have their opinions, however it seems that the liberal citizens of this country seem to have opinions that are based on emotion instead of logic. The majority of liberals that I have met don't have a clue about truly serious issues that this country has. They are always yelling about global warming. Although climate change is important. Shouldn't we be looking at economics, energy, government spending. It is very interesting though to live in a red county within a blue state across the river from a blue city in a blue state.

Its is pretty simple how war hero can lost to charmer... If you look up charm in the dictionary it shows a picture of Barry Hussein Obama with a note that says see charisma... take a look and you will find William Jefferson Clinton's picture. It proves only that people are fooled by the young-looking, sharp-dressing, smooth-talking man. We did it with Kennedy (Was he a great president because he was great, or because he was shot.) We did it with Clinton (We all know that Mrs. Bob Dole would have run the country.) And if the polls are correct.... we will do it with Obama. The only interesting thing to think about is... All the visionary presidents that we have elected or almost elected (RFK) were assasinated... So we all must ask if we are ready for Biden to be president. Which, actually, I am not too upset about. He seems like a good enough guy.
